The problem is im not sure how easy it is to setup a sky decoder with MP...
It depends how advanced you want to get. Creating an "STB" channel in MP for the Sky input isn't that hard, but getting MP to control the STB isn't exactly easy. The basic steps are:
    1. Setting up the channels in MP. You most likely have the channels as scanned in via your DVB-S tuner, however you'd have to set up analog tuning details for an s-video/component/composite input.
    2. Setting up the blaster.
    3. Find a way to map the DVB-S EPG to the analog input channels/tuning details.

...and then get MP to (reliably) change the channels on the Sky decoder. I have a IR Blaster to use but is MP always going get it right?
    No experience -> no comment.

The "other" approach is probably no easier and requires luck (or bribery). Search Geekzone for information in that department. ;)

    Hi there :)

Think this is the 2nd time I dare to posts here ;)

First off, very sorry for everyone who suffered, in whatever way, from the recent disasters over there.

Then on a positive note - hope everything is on track for RWC2011 and hope you all are as eagerly anticipating the kick-off as we do :D

how about getting us Kiwis set up with our own "sub-forum" just like popular skins etc have
I wonder if it will not be more beneficial for you-all to put the regular stuff in your NZ wiki?

Thanks Rekenaar - didn't know about that. :D
I was going to suggest that Geekzone (a local forum) would be a good option, but the wiki seems like an excellent idea to me.

    :)

One week with no family.... I reckon you'll have FTR sorted by the time they get back :) (but do you really need it based on what you said?)

The only thing about media portals tv recording is that there are no dates or anything by recordings in the list, which is a bit painful.

If you're using DVBT you're wasting your time (from what I understand based on other people's posts) but with DVB-S it's pretty straightforward - I can't remember the exact details (search this thread, I've posted on this before) because it's so long since I set it up but basically I think it was just a matter of installing Comskip and then setting FTR to run it - you have two options; run Comskip after the recording has finished, or run it while it is recording. It makes no difference to the results but on my old P4 HTPC was a bit gutless so I ran it after the recording was finished whereas my new HTPC is way overpowered so now I run it while recording :)

Good luck on eliminating that failure in your life - it's a bit of a major - actually I'm not really sure how you can live with yourself :D

It's difficult but I manage somehow. I'm on DVB-S now, wasn't last time, so I'll give it a whirl.

    Hi ledge

The only thing about media portals tv recording is that there are no dates or anything by recordings in the list, which is a bit painful.

I'm not sure which context you want to see that information in, but one solution for that would be to use the recording naming pattern to add the date to the recording name. See here for more info. Also, with MP 1.2.0b (and possibly with older versions too) you can view the EPG data (description, date, start and stop time) associated with the recordings. mm1352000, Miroslav combined your patch with his just for me I think, and it's working! I can finally listen to FM radio again.

But I have problems if the TV Server is recording a TV channel. The HVR-2200 has 2 tuners, which can be used for either DVB-T or analog, so I've just set them up again as 2 hybrids. It's always been difficult to know which 2 tuners to combined as both DVB-T and both analog tuners have the same name.

If I get them wrong, then I get a "no card available" as expected, so I swap them over and get an unknown error with the following in the error.log

    2011-06-20 19:41:27.390820 [(17)]: Exception :TvLibrary.TvException: Unable to start graph
    at TvLibrary.Implementations.Analog.TvCardAnalog.RunGraph(Int32 subChannel)
    at TvLibrary.Implementations.Analog.TvCardAnalog.Tune(Int32 subChannelId, IChannel channel)
at TvService.CardTuner.Tune(User& user, IChannel channel, Int32 idChannel)

I don't understand why this should occur, but it does only if the other tuner is currently in use. I suppose it's a bug in the card/driver? Although I was able to watch Prime on the analog tuner while recording DVB-T in the past with the same configuration.

    Any ideas?

The description is good, but logs are necessary if I'm going to be able to figure out what is going on. If you're able to consistently reproduce a problem then please use debug mode and post the resulting logs...

I guess you need the tv.log as well. I set MP to debug log mode and I've attached tv.log and error.log.

The log will show that I started a TV channel recording, then attempted to play an FM station.

It won't play any FM radio station after the unknown error message. I need to restart the TV Service to get it working again.

Let me know what you find, if anything.

    Thanks.

    Hi again

    The error is clearly here:

    2011-06-20 21:19:13.754000 [(13)]: analog: RunGraph returns:0x8007001F

That code means "cannot perform the requested operation", and usually occurs when a driver throws a wobbly. It could mean that you've got the hybrid card pairing wrong but isn't really specific. As nice as it is to have the short logs, are you able to provide the full log showing startup of TV Server? That would show me the all-important graphbuilding...

Ok, I've done that, and tv.log attached.

I notice that if I start the FM radio playing first, and then watch a TV channel, this works correctly, and I can then stop the TV channel and listen to the radio again.

But strange issue if I start FM radio, and then select a TV channel to record now, it never starts recording. I could provide separate log of that situation if it would help.
