we're moving house soon and will only have satellite access so my HVR2200 will be no good - 2 analogue and 2 DVB-T tuners and radio. Any recommendations for a DVB-S (pref HD) card that has multiple tuners?
Thanks for the help.

Meant to give you an update: I was up 'til around 5am last night :)eek:) working on this, and I managed to get it working properly. It would be *really* awesome if you could upgrade to 1.2.0b and test the fix (I'll provide binaries this time) - that would help to ensure that this fix makes it into 1.2.0rc...

Ok, I've got 1.2.0 beta installed. What's next?

O the topic of DVB-S cards, is anyone using a DVB-S2 card? Apparently you can pick up more Australian Channels (in addition to SBS) with an S2 card ... just cant seem to find many in NZ

The only DVB-S2 channels that I know about that are available from NZ are the [encrypted] Sky HD channels and the temporary FTA Australian Channel 9 channels (9, Gem, Go!). I wouldn't be rushing out to buy a DVB-S2 card just for the Australian channels - they could disappear at any time...

Ahhh, okay. There is a hybrid card bug that I fixed in 1.2.0b that may be in play here. Basically not all analog tuners can tune FM. You have to "initialise" the tuner to determine whether it is capable of tuning FM, and the process of initialising can mess up the tuner driver if the digital side of the tuner is being used at the same time (like what you're doing).
If 1.2.0b contains the hybrid fix then unfortunately that's not my issue. After installing 1.2.0b I still get an unknown error if I watch a DVB-T channel first. I guess it must be a card fault or driver bug.

I found a slightly newer driver on the UK Hauppauge website and installed it, but same problem.

I notice someone on your FM radio thread is using the same card and I'll ask him if he has the same problem. Perhaps they are using an older driver which works. I'll find out.

But I suspect I'll need to purchase a different card with analog support to use with FM radio. Do you know if there are any known issues with the HVR-4400?

    Cheers.

There are no known issues with the 4400, but before you go down that route... have you tried switching the tuners in your hybrid cards?

mm1352000 thanks for the advice. Looks like freeview have no plans for HD sat transmission so a standard DVB-S will do the job. Do you know if the S2 cards work with DVB-S transmission? Asking mainly because of the dual tuner...

    Hi again bopfrog

*All* DVB-S2 tuners that I have ever heard about are backwards compatible - they support both DVB-S and DVB-S2.
