Without having the card to test with yet and without professional tools to measure signal levels I think everything is guesswork. From what little I know, amplifiers can certainly be too powerful - signal distortions may result. They can obviously also not be powerful enough. I'd suggest you wait until you get a card and see if you have problems before deciding you need an amplifier...

[Edit: note that I have a Kingray 2 output amplifier...]

Well, it has taken many months to get MP totally running autonomously, and finally, today, i can say i have achieved it.
MP has been running 90% for a while and the family have been loving it, but in the last 2 weeks i have networked MP to the whole house, managed to set the machine to turn on and off automatically and most of all, and with the most satisfaction, managed to get the EPG grabber working autonomously.....

All this with a very intermediate knowledge of computers........just the fillip i needed living down here.....

After buying a new Dell lappy recently and after trying to use Media Centre on it, it makes you realise what a truly fantastic product MP is, and also how poor and restricted MC is....just rrruuubbbiiiisshhh

One day every house will have MP

Thanks for everyones help on the forums

Might I ask: why would you be willing to pay the extra money for the 3600 over the 3595?

I thought I should mention that Blackgold have just withdrawn the 3595 from sale and is no longer available. The only option now for what I need is the 3600 due for sale in 2 or 3 weeks.

Can anyone here let us know what the quality of your SBS reception is?

Seems something has changed in the last few days which has reduced the signal quality extraordinarily.

I don't usually watch it, but just checked now and I have no signal..

The power may have been reduced. Same problem reported on Geekzone here.
What dish sizes are you all using?
