I can't answer your question, but we live in hope. I guess no MP developers who know what they are doing live where MHEG-5 is being used.

I have EPGCollector reading the MHEG-5 data here once a day which creates a TVGuide.xml file which the xmltv plugin reads. But the plugin doesn't read some useful information like program and movie classifications which is a hassle as we have kids. I've brought this up in the relevent forums a few times over the last 4 years but nothing has been done about it.

The plugin also chops off long program descriptions in mid sentence which is annoying.

Hmmm... This is not strictly true as the user mm1352000 lives in NZ and he is the lead MediaPortal developer for the TV side of things. He is really helpful and has helped me through the odd problem I've had with MediaPortal. I'd be really curious to know where he sees things heading with MHEG-5 and if it's perhaps something that is being looked at for MediaPortal 2.

On the collection side of things, do you have a DVB-S card in your HTPC? I have tuned all my Freeview channels on this card and merged them with the DVB-T channels so it uses the EPG from the satellite rather than the terrestrial signal. I have then made the DVB-T card a higher priority than the DVB-S so this gets used in preference. It works well, and I'm pretty sure I don't get the text truncated. Not sure about the classifications as I don't use them, but will check.

I see Quickflix has gone live here in NZ - has anyone checked it out?
Looking at it's list of shows and movies I would actually be quite tempted to pay for it if there was a MediaPortal extension!

I too saw this in the weekend paper and thought exactly the same thing.

I know you can add sources to the Webvideo extension - I wonder if it could be done this way?

Do you mean Online Videos? I tried adding a source (I think it was TVNZ OnDemand) a while back, what a mission! I gave up  Probably easy if you know about that sort of thing though..

Just had a quick look at the Quickflix site - the introductory price is good but the list of titles (movies and TV) is lacking at the moment - I've got far more on my HDD as I'm sure a lot of us here have (hence the popularity of the MovingPictures and TVSeries plugins) Still, it could be worth a look at some stage...

Be interested to hear from anyone who gives it a go (and gets it to work in Online Videos) (y)

Sorry, I do mean Online Videos! I just couldn't remember what it was called and my HTPC wasn't in front of me!

You should have another look actually, and make sure that all the sources are updated because when I last looked TVNZ On demand and the TV3 equivelent was all on there already. Quite good really.

I installed the Online Videos plugin earlier in the evening for the first time, and it downloaded the latest updates. It works quite well in most cases. Some channels are not available, probably as they have country IP checking. All the TVNZ and TV3 ondemand shows won't play for me. It says it can't find the URL or some such thing, on every single one. What's up with that?

Yeah, I get the same thing. I've found that some TVNZ on demad works, but all of TV3 doesn't.

Perhaps we need to submit an update? I wonder who submitted these NZ sites origionally?

This is strange as I was watching them both last night without any troubles.
Are you definitely running the latest version of online videos, and have you performed the automatic site update that should popup whenever you open Online Vids in mediaportal. I had an update for both TV3 and TVNZ sites about a week ago that made them work again for me.
Other than that, your problem may be to do with codecs.

Will have another look tonight and report back. As I said some of them work, and some of them don't. It's rare that I watch anything off this anyway as I hate the quality. I'd rather view a HD version.

    Edit

What I o use Online-videos for is Youtube. The HD videos play really well with little stuttering and you can queue a whole lot up to play (I usually play music videos) at once which is great.
