Hi all,

I'm probably missing something very simple, but I can't for the life of me get Prime EPG data (for the scrambled Sky Signal) to combine with my analogue Prime TV channel.

i have tried to follow the instructions from earlier in this post:

but still no joy.

What I do is:

1. Scan for the analogue Prime channel (with a PVR-150) - no problem
2. Scan for the Sky Prime channel (@ 12707,h,22500) - no problem
3. Combine the 2 Prime channels in TV Server - no apparent problem.

But... I get no EPG information for Prime (all other channels are ok). I thought the problem may be that the new combined Prime channel was only mapped to my analogue card, but when I try to map it to my DVB-S card as well (so that it know to collect EPG data for Prime) it seems to take priority over the analogue card and I can't view the channel at all (I get an error message saying the channel is scrambled and cannot be displayed).

Would someone be able to post a detailed step-by-step procedure on how to link the DVB Prime EPG data with the analogue signal.

Rich,

Try reading the comments on Post 505 Pg 51. I had the same problem and it worked for me.

At a rough glance it appears your problem relates to the priority you have set for each source.

hi,
i need to get enter the AudioPID and VideoPID values for a tv channel, how do, i do so? i have gone into the dvb-s settings tab in tveng3, and i cant find any where to enter them

update, dont worry, i have got the latest build and its there,
although when i manualy add a channel, and then save, it dels all the dvb-s settings for that channel so it does not work any way

Hi All,

I seem to be stuck trying to get my avermedia dvb-s(A700) card to work in MP. I have Vista 64 and have the Aver TV
running with it so I know the card works.

But I cannot add the card through MP setup I get the error No video capture cards were found. I also have a DVB-T card which is detected fine.

I see alot of people talking about graphs and adding the card into capturecarddefinitions.xml but im finding it hard to follow exactlly what needs to be done. I haven't even got a capturecard.xml file that I can find anywhere.

Would installing tvserver help??

Any help with this would be hugely appreciated.

hey again peeps,

i looked into freeview last week and i was going to invest in a dvb-s card and satelite but it turns out tvnz will only be broadcasting hd via terrestrial freeview.

are all you people using a dvb-s card aware of this? and if so, why dvb-s and not dvb-t?? what are the true advantages, given that i'm in the suburbs and anticipate good terrestrial freeview reception?

Hi Coina,

DVB-S is up and running now - DVB-T isn't yet. So it's true advantage is that it is available now (probably amongst other reasons that I'm unaware of!). Which is why I use DVB-S. My HVR-4000 has a DVB-T tuner also, so I can make the switch if I want once DVB-T is up and running.

what i'm more getting at is, terrestrial is only march '08 away; i don't have a satellite so would have to spend $$ to set all that up... what are the reasons i should rush into satellite now and not wait till march for hd terrestrial? is satellite better than terrestrial in any way?

One thing that you can do with satellite is record any number of channels at the same time on a single DVB-S card if they are on the same transponder. Since there are only two transponders being used by freeview, two cards allows you to record any or all of the channels simultaneously.

I don't know what the story is with DVB-T - but this is certainly something that you should check! Please don't take this to mean you can't do something similiar with DVB-T - I don't know myself, but certainly you should check

Applies for any DVB standard T,S,C I think Freeview will be using 3 MUXes
