Really want to use the TVServer version but last time I tried it wouldn't work correctly on my MediaCenter (was testing single seat) so reverted back to 0.2.2.0 and waiting for a more stable release.

I use TVServer for some time now and for me it works very good.
Although is use single seat setup there some advantages besides streaming.
Mainly that it runs as service.
So i can record a show in the background without having to run MediaPortal.
This is espacially very handy if you want to test some improvements for MP while you are recording.
    This was not possible before

I use the server in a multi seat environment. Albeit having a MCE05 installed in the server, it was unusable for several reasons: It supports only two simultaneous receivers, It does not work as well as TVServer does in a network( actually, did not even get it to work).

    The good things in TVserver:
    - Available on all seats in local network( but unfortunately a bit unstable package with SQL, probably my fault)
    - Supports more than two receivers, I use 3 at the moment
    - Is capable to package the files afterwards
    - None of the other free SW works even closely as well as MP
-e.g. DVBDream, MyTheatre, GBViewer, GAM, and few I do not remember
    The bad things:
    - Does not understand over scrambled channels
    - I have two cards with a reader: Twinhan 3040 and Anysee DVB-T
    - I use MCE CI -program for Twinhan but with no luck
-( I really would like to get the local childrens channel to the network
    - Would like to map command keys to meet Twinhan's remote but found no working way to do that
    - Does not have a PiP-function
    - Timeshift initialization is not done to the best benefit
    - Is a bit slow in channel changing and in other actions
    - The window freezes when doing sthing
    - Nag of recordings being overlapping even though I have three receivers
    - Does crash time to time
    - I would like to have f.ex. Youtube -plugin in MediaPortal
    - Actually, It would be nice if MCE-plugins would be importable to MP
    - In windowed mode I cannot resize the window( I would like it to be of a size of appx. 128 x 96 pixels)
    - I cannot get Hibernate or sleep to work( I think it's up to my A7N8X-board)
    - Power consumption is appx. 150W so it would be nice to get it to wake from hibernate, sleep used for some reason 120W

But, after all, I am grateful for the people behind this bundle.

    :sorry:

I use the stock engine included in 0.2.2.2 with the most recent SVN build. Why don't I use the new engine?

    1) I tried it and it just wasn't there for me. It was slow to change channels, wasn't ordering my channels properly, and it didn't like it if I cancelled a recording while it was recording it.
    2) I'm using a single-seat installation and I use a Hauppauge PVR-500 card for recording. This pretty much eliminates all but a handfull of the added features in the TVserver.
    3) Setting up the guide and channels is a real pain. I don't feel like doing this again until I know I won't have to switch back due to bugs.

I'm really looking forward to when this goes live, but I think it still has a ways to go. Then again, the old engine I'm using still hasn't been entirely finished. (Since going to SVN builds, TV turns itself on when I go to Scheduled Recordings or LiveTV screen or TVGuide while a tuner is in the middle of recording a show.) Overall, I love MediaPortal. I've tinkered with just about all of the other solutions out there and no one comes even close to the features, looks, and ease of installation/use that MediaPortal has. Hands down. I love it.

I love the new Tv-engine 0.3 and for my part it has been quite stable, but as I have both server and client on the same computer and TV.e0.3 lack of wakeup for recordings (electricity bill goin sky high :)) Ive switched back to 0.2 but when this feature is avaliable in 0.3 Ill switch back again

I used to use myTV in MP but was lured over to the TV portion of GBPVR. I still use MP for all my media management as it does a much, much better job. The only reason, and I'm kind of forced into this, is that GBPVR runs comskip automatically after recording. I am aware of the comclean solutions for MP, but that is not an option for me as comskip (and comclean as a result) is not always 100% right on the breaks it cuts out of the shows. Comclean deletes these portions while comskip simply marks them. This is a big deal for my wife and I have to say it is very nice to have. I had no other problems with MP other than this and will definitely switch back as soon as something like this is implemented in MP. Please don't take this as a hit on MP as that is not at all how it is intended.

Also, I installed and played around with TVE3 and had no problems getting it to work with my directv receiver. I really liked it and look forward to using it in the future. I think a lot of the problems people have with it stem from simply not reading the manual before trying to install it.

I have tried several times to get the new Engine up and running for my parents, however each time I encounter nothing but problems trying to get the guide working properly and eventually give up.

IMO, MP needs to develop an easier guide setup so it's as simple as entering your postal code in MP and then choosing the correct line up. (Yes I sometimes live in an ideal world) :p

I've gone through the Zap2It plugin thread and countless others, yet the guide never updates and I'm left with nothing but frustration.

Ultimately, that is what is stopping me from replacing BeyondTV with MP for both my parents, and myself.

I am using TVE3 with a Technotrend S2-3200 and it works okay. However, because standby is currently not supported with PowerScheduler or PVR Scheduler, it is not possible to do automatic recordings right now.

Does anybody know, when this feature will be available?
