It looks to me there is definitely a problem with the cam-limit, because I did a full re-install of MP 1.1 RC6 and I get the message "no card available".

These are the steps I took:
- uninstall Mediaportal + Mysql
- reinstall Mediaportal 1.1 rc6 + mysql
- let the tvserver config scan for channels
- set the cam limit to 2
- reinstall SAF 4
- start MP client and watch BBC1. Then choose record from context menu.
- go to tv guide and click BBC2
- I get the error there is no free card available

see attachment log record 9h-24m.zip

Next I tried the patched tvservice.exe
- start MP client and watch BBC1. Then choose record from context menu.
- go to tv guide and click BBC2
- I don't get an errormessage and I can watch BBC2, but the recording on BBC1 stopped, because when I go and watch the active recrding (from the beginning, or from live point), it stopped playing exactly at the time I switched to BBC2. The program on BBC1 stays RED in tv guide, as if it is still recording, but it isn't.

Windows 7 64 bit (i have a dual boot setup XP/7)
One tuner: Twinhan 2033 DVB-C tuner (Mantis driver) + CAM + AlphaCrypt
Cam Limit set to 2, this has worked for the last year or so with MP 1.02
Cable Provider: Ziggo - The Netherlands
BBC-channels are on the same TS and both not free to air with Ziggo

I think it is best to start a separate thread about this. Then we can keep this thread to the cam limit failing to work.

And if you set the cam limit on 3.
If I set it on 3, I can record a channel and watch an other.
I can stream minimal one channel less the the cam limit, but this is an other bug that won't be fixed in mp 1.1.0.

See my previous post for more info.

Can you stop tvservice and delete all logs. then restart and open MP in debug mode. then go to guide and try and record a program on BBC1 (not manual recording as you did do). then once recording can you switch to BBC2. When both are supposedly running can you go into the active streams option in tv and see what they says is running?

Then attach those logs (just want to see client logs as well) and see if this is an issue with manual recordings

Just post in a new thread as Rik says :)

I can not confirm this. I tried cam limit 3, but the problem is still the same. The difference now is that with the default tvservice.exe
I don't get the error "no free card avaiable", now the recording just stops, like I had with the patches tvservice.exe

Next I will try jameson_uk's suggestion and start a new topic

Well I tried your steps, but I get so many bugs, I don't know where to start and could open multiple threads. :(

    - My original assumption that the recording stopped was incorrect. When I look at TV-streams, I see both BBC1 (who is recording) and BBC2 ( i am watching). When I click the stream that I started recording (BBC1), I can see the live television.
    - When I play back the recording from the beginning, then the playback stops at the point i started watching live tv on BBC2. However the recording is still running when I look at the tv-streams
    - When I started MP in debug mode, the first time (after deleting logs), I right clicked the current program from tv guide on BBC 1 and chose record, nothing seemed to happen, the program in tv guide stayed blue and didn't turn red. So I assumed the recording didn't start. I closed MP and restarted in debug mode. In the TV guide BBC1 was blue, but when I clicked it to watch, It asked me to watch the recording from beginning or from live point, so it was recording. I then went to active recordings and stopped them all.
    - Next time I started MP in debug mode and started recording BBC1 from tv guide. I then clicked BBC2 to watch Live TV and got a "unknown error occured". This message won't go away unless I restart MP.

In my opionion MP was never so buggy before (v1.0.2), I am seriously considering returning back to that version.

I have 2 Digital Everywhere DVB-S2 cards and was also trying out but this binary on the first post. I had to do a restore from backup because i got similar results as ronnie_t.
    Very buggy.

I hope the team will put the 1.1.0 release on hold to get the total tv issue and card allocation fixed first.

could anyone please test these few steps on the new tvservice.exe:

    1)
    setup scenario:
    card1 (cam limit=1):
    mux1:
    ch1
    ch2

    expected:
    user1 starts timeshifting ch1
user2 starts timeshifting ch2, but is not allowed, all cards in use.

    2)
    setup scenario:
    card1 (cam limit=1):
    mux1:
    ch1
    ch2

    expected:
    user1 starts timeshifting ch1
    user2 starts timeshifting ch1 also
    scheduler starts recording ch2.

user1 and user2 should both get kicked.

    ________

Please can everyone who is seeing this problem please test the attached TvService.exe ?

In order to test, you will need to go into the TV configuration, manual control and stop the service. The replace the TvService.exe in C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TVService (or whatever the correct path is !) with this one (expand the .rar file obviously!, and backup your original TvService.exe), then open TV configuration again and re-enable the service.

I have built this exe myself after applying a fix from Rik Smith. It is possible that I have screwed up (although it works fine for me) so please test with caution. If it doesn't work, it might be my fault! I see no problems with this file, although I don't have a CAM so I am not able to test the bug.

Please test as a matter of urgency and report back!

    Thanks,

    Mark

So is the binary in this thread worse than 'standard' RC6 ?

Please provide a test scenario that goes wrong, detailed steps to reproduce and logs.

When did this problem start for you? Is RC4 okay? RC5? We need to know when the problems were introduced. The fix that we suspect caused the problem in this thread was in RC2, so it may be that RC1 is fine but RC2 not. Of course if this is not correct, we need to look a little harder! Either way, we need your feedback and help.

Can EVERYONE who is having problems PLEASE test the scenarios that gibman has described?

This is urgent, as I don't think we can possibly release 1.1.0 until we have a clear idea of what the CAM problems are.

    Thanks,

    Mark

AW: cam limit broken in rc6

i dont know if it matters but while i was testing the new binary i had a look at the manual control section of tvserver config and i saw that when i was starting a recording or timeshifting the field "scrambled" was "yes" for only half a second and then turned to "no". is this behaviour by design cause the channel got descrambled succesfully?

the other thing i noticed is that sometimes when i am watching live-tv and press the info-button on my remote (osd), then the actual show gets displayed with a "rec"-icon although i am not recording anything! when i close the osd and let it pop-up againg the rec-icon is gone... very strange. this happend definitely with the non-patched tvservice binary... will test it with the new one and gibmans steps around 18:30 cet or later this evening after football... ;-)

    edit
scenario 1 and 2 are working as expected
    /edit

    edit2
the problem with the rec-icon happens also with the patched tvservice. i cannot test with a clean mp installation (altough it is a clean installation of rc6 with no upgrades), i have some plugins/skins installed but i used the debug-mode to verify it. has someone else this problem? shall i post a new bug report? i am not sure if it is a bug or just a fault of my installation... :-/
