Hi,
@riksmith, nope not the weird message in the log only can not tune in Mini Guide when rec, going to test more during some days to see.

Regards
Roy

Well if it is not in your logs, then please post them to show what they do tell us.

And if i am correct mini epg uses something like a cache, please also try the full epg or manual zapping.

Hi,
Nope, channel change when recording is not possible even if you can decryot several channels when using only 1 tuner, so yes maybe it is on "client" side the bug is.

Logs yeah, not much fun in them at all :p

Regards
Roy

Is it a coincidence that all logs about this that i have seen contain mdapi?

Please can everyone who is seeing this problem please test the attached TvService.exe ?

In order to test, you will need to go into the TV configuration, manual control and stop the service. The replace the TvService.exe in C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TVService (or whatever the correct path is !) with this one (expand the .rar file obviously!, and backup your original TvService.exe), then open TV configuration again and re-enable the service.

I have built this exe myself after applying a fix from Rik Smith. It is possible that I have screwed up (although it works fine for me) so please test with caution. If it doesn't work, it might be my fault! I see no problems with this file, although I don't have a CAM so I am not able to test the bug.

Please test as a matter of urgency and report back!

    Thanks,

    Mark

hi, this TvService.exe fixes the cam limit for a part, the only problem I have found is that I can stream always one channel less then the cam limit and sometimes I can stream as many channels as the cam limit.
This is not a big problem for me, but maybe for people who has a real cam that can only decode 2 channels for example.

steps to reproduse (with cam limit on 3; channel A,B,C,D are on the same transponder; there is only one card enabled)

    - start watching tv on channel A and start recording on channel A.
    - switch to channnel B and start recording.
    - then switch to channel C (this works, 3 streams with cam limit on 3) !!
    - but then, switch to channel D ----> I get "unable to start timeshift" (with manual zapping) or "no free card aviable" (guide) !!
    - then there are 2 ways (I know to watch channel D, without stopping a recording)
    1) Stop TV and tune to channel D (via guide, mini guide).
    2) Switch to a recording channel (A,B of C) and then tune to channel D (via guide, mini guide).

:D elliottmc and riksmith for this improvement.

Thanks for testing! I think the "new" problem you describe is too difficult to solve now and should be fixed under:

    Hi,

Thanks to Glenn for confirming this fix.

It would be useful if the other people who had a problem would also confirm. The reason this bug was not spotted was due to lack of testing of this feature (I guess not many people have a CAM), so it would be a huge shame if we end up with a new and serious bug in 1.1.0 because we commit this fix and not enough people test.

Please, please, please, if you have RC6 installed and use TV, try this TvService.exe and run it for a couple of days. Then post your results here, good or bad. That way we have a chance of getting 1.1.0 the best it can be.

Last week I did a clean install of MP RC6. And I had the problem described here. BBC1 and BBC2 are on the same Transport Stream, So I record BBC1 and watch BBC2 or vice versa. I then got the error "no free card available". I thought I had my cam limit wrong, but it was set to "2".

Since then I installed 4therecord and now I don't get the warning "no free card available", instead the program that is recording (on BBC1) just stops recording and I can watch the other channel (BBC2).

I don't know if my current problem is related but I have attached the tv and tswriter log. This is done after I recorded one channel and watched the other.

I tried the new tvservice.exe on the last 2 attempts on BBC1/BBC2 to use one transport streams, but nothing changed. the recording channel still stops

Without knowing a little about your system (TV cards, CAM, etc?) it is impossible to advise. I assume that since you are in the UK, you are using DVB-T, and only one tuner, or you would definitely have no problem. A CAM is not needed then, since these are free-to-air channels.

What have you set your CAM limit for the card to? Someone else might need to comment, since I have never done this myself (I have 4 tuners). However, I am sure that on my system I have managed to have one card tuning two channels on the same transponder.

Sorry I didn\t provide more info. Here it is:
    Windows XP SP3
One tuner: Twinhan 2033 DVB-C tuner (Mantis driver) + CAM + AlphaCrypt
Cam Limit set to 2, this has worked for the last year or so with MP 1.02
Cable Provider: Ziggo - The Netherlands
BBC-channels are not free to air with Ziggo

According to your logs, you still have ForTheRecord installed.

Please could you test with clean RC6, no plugins, using the TvService.exe from this thread, and provide all logs (use MediaPortal Debug-Mode from your programs menu).

It is always useful to indicate in your report the time of the failed tune.

    Thanks,

    Mark
