Nice support. As you can see Damandan had the same issue.

I only use MDAPI because I don't want to pay for a CI Module and a fitting CAM Module. I can't understand why those people who spend this money get support and I don't. This problem only exists since updating to 1.2b - with 1.2a i had no problems at all. If you want to, I make a photo of my smartcard to prove that I'm not illegaly using it.

The point is also that MDAPI has many many bugs and issues (as do most of the clients). We have far too often spent a long time looking into bugs that have turned out to be issues with MDAPI. Hard CAMs are coded into MP so we are in control of that (hence the support). MDAPI puts some things outside of our control.

So the issue is not only what MDAPI can be used for (and having a valid smart card does not make it ok if your provider does not allow you to use this type of setup) but that MDAPI is not a supported setup.

Not trying to be a pain but this is no different to running MP on a server OS; It can be made to work but it is unsupported.

Edit: Also could you make sure that the card graph option is set to stop rather than pause (http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_...uration/TV-Server_Configuration/02_TV_Servers)

The TV service is running on Windows 7 SP1 x64, only the MySQL db is on a 2008 Server R2 SP1.

I accept that MDAPI may be the source for many problems - but in this case MDAPI just worked fine for me for a very long time now. Since 1.1 RCs I'm useing it and had no problems at all after finding the right configuration. And now - since updating to 1.2 beta - this issue appeared. You can't really want me to believe that this is now a MDAPI fault.

If you want to, I'll try every svn build between 1.2b and 1.2a, if you promise me to help.

btw. we both know that there's no provider who really accepts the cam modules most of the users have, so it's nearly the same using MDAPI or one of those cam modules with a legal buyed smartcard. I don't want support for something illegal here.

That is not certain since Damandan has not posted logs despite all the requests that we make for people to follow instructions for getting support. We cannot help unless logs are posted. :(

Please understand that this issue is not about paying money for CI modules and CAMs. The issue is that *many* people use softcam plugins for viewing encrypted channels without paying. If MediaPortal provided support for MDAPI then channel providers could potentially take legal action against us --> no more MediaPortal. We don't want that, so we have a clear policy in place. Yes, I fully accept that our policy is not helpful for people like yourself who use the softcam plugins with legitimate smartcards, but surely you understand that you are in the minority. We don't have time to verify that people have legitimate smart cards for every support thread that would be posted if we did provide support. There are certainly other forums on the internet where you can probably get help...

Well I think the times, where you can do anything sensefull with softcams is over. And if those providers wanted to, they can take legal actions against you because of the hardcams as well. This is a grey zone - and I don't ask for support with MDAPI - there's just a problem which started with updating to 1.2b which didn't exist in 1.2a. For me that's a definition of a bug since nothing else had changed.

I fully accept that. When testing we mostly focus on supported configurations, so such an issue could easily have snuck through with the ***many*** changes in the graph code. It will be hard to identify the problem without debugging and extra logging etc. Personally I have never used MDAPI so I can't help with that. If other team members choose to help you then that will be their choice. If you are able to identify the problem yourself by finding the SVN revision where the problem was introduced then I think that would also be helpful.

Okay, here is the deal: You set the topic back to "confirm" or even to "bug" so that other members see that here's something to do. As I am studying informatics I think I am able to read a bit through the code - so it would be very helpfull to know on which files I should take an eye, or in other words, which parts may affect this problem.

    MDPlug.cs
    TvCardDvbBase.cs

Those are probably the major classes to look at.

[Edit: I didn't set the thread to "no bug". It is not my place to change it. I advise you to check your "pause graph" setting as suggested by jameson_uk before jumping into the code. Could be a simple configuration problem...]

Setting the thread status is something we do to help identify the issues that we support and must fix. It has nothing to do about you being suspected of anything. It would be valuable information to know if the issue occurs without MDAPI.

It is even possible that your issue does happen because of a new bug in MP. If you provide a specific svn revision that causes the issue, we could take a closer look on those changes to see if it is indeed buggy code.

Just to add my 2 cents, I did not provide my logs because:
a - It has not occurred in an official MediaPortal release.
b - I suspected that my mptvdb database could have been corrupted because of 2 high an overclock on my northbridge and memory which will affect my MediaPortal installation since that is running from a ramDisk.
c - It was fixed by deleting the database and reconfiguring the tv-server after that.

So my post was just my way of trying to lend a helping hand to DerPat.

If I continue to receive this error I will make an official bug thread with logs and all, as I have done in the past.
Of course after first having ruled out that either an overclock or the ramdisk is the cause of my problems.

DerPat, I still haven't read if you tried deleting your MediaPortal Tv Server database and if this did help at all.
