So you were using LAV splitter before the re-install and it worked OK (over the network) but it doesn't now, and MPC-HC - which also uses LAV - has the same problems as MP. Kodi does everything with it's own internal processing - it doesn't use DirectShow filters etc.

This points to differences in LAV settings, or network related issues.

I notice in the LAV video settings that you are using 'DXVA2 (copyback)' - have you tried 'DXVA2 (native)' ?

Yes I tried software and both dxva options. Same issue.

I notice that my 720p movies run fine.

Also after a few restarts of mediaportal the issue seems to go away. Weird or what?

Gonna test further in the weekend.

    Thanks

    Little update.

I tried saf, but same issue.

I'm running the dpc latency checker atm, but after 5 minutes everything is still green. I'm letting it run to see if that changes.

And after half an hour of running dpc latency checker, everything is still green.

I tried a lot of settings in LAVF, disabled virus scanner on my server. I tried everything I can think of. No solution. Only difference with my previous setup, is that I had windows 7 32 bit and now I have 64 bit. Could this be the problem? I don't want to start over again.

    Could this be the problem?
That's very unlikely, unless the problem is driver related.

Next I'm going to try SAF 6.
Doesn't SAF 6 also use LAV? ...in which case, what is the difference between your original LAV configuration and the new one with SAF 6?
(Seems like a pointless test to me. I would be trying completely different codecs and splitters.)

I understand, but it has always worked for me for a long time.

Yes, I understand. My point is that the test does not add any information.

If you test different codecs and splitters...
If they work, you know the problem is likely to be related to LAV.
If they don't work, you know the problem is likely to be not related to LAV.
In both cases you have learned something about the problem.

This seems to work. But it is getting late :). I will test further tomorrow.

If this is the solution, it is still weird that LAVF doesn't work.

So, the differences I notice are:
    1. Different video codec.
    2. Force using LAV splitter enabled.
The second difference could be the important one. I'm not sure which splitter was used previously. It might not have been the LAV one.
What options do you have for the splitter setting?
