I'm thinking of installing MediaPortal but from what i see it has no classic windows skin. Could something like this be made? I really, really hate media center looking skins.
But I guess most MP users want to create an HTPC and hide as much of windows as possible. Certainly I do.
I think that if you want a retro Windows skin you have to make it yourself. Just read everything you can find about skinning on this site and start modifying the skin files. It is not difficult. But it is a lot of work.

By the way: stop thinking about installing MP, just do it .
I haven't even started using MP, i doubt i'll be skinning anytime soon
My main problem is that MC-looking apps always have those huge ugly bars around every clickable option. Can anyone recommend a good MP skin with tiny bars? I don't know if i'm being clear, bout this, but it's kinda like when you have a huge 22" monitor on 800*600 resolution, so everything is biiiiiig.
I was using MCE before I converted to MP. While running MCE I spend a lot of time just trying to keep things going. My wife hated me spending so much time on it (and still not being able to use it most of the time while I was away from home).
As soon as I changed to MP, there was little or no work to keep it going. But the fifth day I started personalizing the skin (the TV guide). And the seventh day I took a rest. Now I'm redoing a complete skin. My wife hates me spending so much time on it (but she never calls me anymore to tell it broke).
Really it's easy (but a lot of work). Install it, 'get the bug' .
For the rest, I believe requirements for a GUI are very personal. Everybody has it's own way of using and taste. That's why so may are making their own skin. Have a look at the gallery. There are some awesome looking skins out there.
Ok, so perhaps a solution, but not the "right" solution. On the client, within media portal configuration, under TV settings, advanced options, I switched to UNC paths instead of the default RSS, and it's working very well. Sure I had to figure out the paths, but no big deal.
Maybe helpful for someone in the future. Thanks for the...

I eventually came across the TwinHan driver CD that was included with the original product. The CD contains numerous drivers for the different TwinHan tuner models, but the drivers are for Win 2K (32-bit only) and Win XP (32-bit and 64-bit).
The drivers install directly on Vista, and the drivers can be installed on Win 7 and Win 10...
