I've uninstalled and reinstalled MP Client again and got the following WatchDog log.

This time MP did load, but in the TaskBar, as before.

The logs seem to have several issues that didn't happen on any of my other machines; e.g. screen resolution.

    I hope this helps.

    @Anthony Vaughan
I had to reinstall the operating system on one of my machines, a SurfacePro 3 that is my Email client, and when I installed the 1.13.0 MP client, MP runs in the taskbar, no matter what I do with the configuration.
Could it be that MP is running on one of the other screens/displays, and the "running in the taskbar" is just a standard Windows "preview" of the window?

Logs are showing that you have 3 screens:
    • "SEC3542" (1680 x 1050) [internal]
    • 2 x DELL E228WFP (1680 x 1050) [displayport]
    MP log shows these as:
    [2016-01-01 21:27:11,699] [Log ] [MPMain ] [DEBUG] - Display: \\.\DISPLAY1 - IsPrimary: False - BitsPerPixel: 32 - Bounds: 1680x1050 @ 3360,0 - WorkingArea: 1680x1050 @ 3360,0
    [2016-01-01 21:27:11,702] [Log ] [MPMain ] [DEBUG] - Display: \\.\DISPLAY2 - IsPrimary: True - BitsPerPixel: 32 - Bounds: 1680x1050 @ 0,0 - WorkingArea: 1680x1010 @ 0,0
    [2016-01-01 21:27:11,704] [Log ] [MPMain ] [DEBUG] - Display: \\.\DISPLAY3 - IsPrimary: False - BitsPerPixel: 32 - Bounds: 1680x1050 @ 1680,0 - WorkingArea: 1680x1050 @ 1680,0

Then it seems a non-primary screen is selected:
    [2016-01-01 21:27:11,862] [Log ] [SplashScreen] [INFO ] - SplashScreen: Splash screen is using screen: \\.\DISPLAY1 (Position: 3360,0 Dimensions: 1680x1050)
    ...
    [2016-01-01 21:27:11,892] [Log ] [MPMain ] [INFO ] - Main: MP is using screen: \\.\DISPLAY1 (Position: 3360,0 Dimensions: 1680x1050)

If I'm right, you simply ought to select your preferred display ("start screen" setting):

That's it. There are three screens in the Display Settings screen and screens two and three are the ones attached to my monitors - my machine is a laptop in a docking station.

I hadn't appreciated the real purpose of the Start Screen option; the lower half of items on that page of the help screen has no descriptive text.

It's a relief that the problem was nothing sinister.

Thank you so much for your help and patience.

I am wondering whether it would be a good idea to have 'The Primary Screen' as an extra option for the Start Screen dropdown? This would help for those of us that are storing our configurations in one location and sharing it with client machines.

That fixed the problem. I just manually installed VC_redist.x64.exe and reinstalled 1.32 64-bit. Thanks for that. A couple of things; the deployment tool for 1.32 doesn't remove the previous version when you're updating from 1.31 to 1.32 and "MediaPortal TV Server" gets installed even when you choose to install the client only. I...

OK, I found a way to make it work. It seems like MP-TV-series Configuration (and Moving Pictures Configuration) starts as Administrator, and the Administrator do not have yet logged in on the UNC \\192.168.222.247\Public even if the normal user on the PC have done it. So to fix it on the Win 11 HTPC: Created a shortcut to...
