Codec Setup to get all Online Videos to play (3 Viewers)

Hi everybody,

got the same problem as rsbrux and airshark here:

"audio codec error" with WMV and "Unable to play Video" when selecting many clips from ARD (not all though).

@ rsbrux: Did you find a solution to the problem?
Has anybody else an idea how to get it work?

(got flvsplitter, mp4splitter, haali, medialooks and ffdshow installed)

is there any wmv-codec I can install? (Windows Media Player is already installed)

Unfortunately ARD has many clips only avaiable via rtmp streaming, which is currently not supported via DirectShowFilters. This is why many clips don't play. That's not a problen on your system. But WMV should play. Can you give an url (logfile) where this don't work? Is it always an mms stream?

I use the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack (5.0) and I have never had any problems with it before for any type of file including several different format/resolution .wmv files. When I try to play something from OnlineVideos that is wmv however I get the exact same error as quoted post.

(all "SVT Play" videos for instance seems to be .wmv and cant be played)

Please try with 0.9.3. Are you on Vista or XP. Does the Codec Tab on OnlineVideoConfig show all splitters installed?

0.9.0 uses the internal player only for mp4. The older version did try external as well, maybe you had some external players that played mp4? MP4 DO work in 0.9.0, if you have your codecs setup right. (As describes in SAF thread).

no, i only use internal player for ALL my videos.
All works fine.
The only problem is with MP4 stream (and 0.9.0 version). If i download the MP4 stream on my hard disk NO PROBLEM, i can play it without any problems.
With 0.8.5 any problems.
I don' use SAF.

Sorry but i have alway the same problem, with 0.9.3 too.
The only version "full work" is the 0.8.5
Same problem on my HTPC and on my office PC.

Mabye you should give SAF a try (latest beta).
MP4 need not only splitter registering, it need to modify registry too. It is little complicated, i spend lot of time to figure it out...

BTW, SAF now support h.264 TV too.

But i don't have problems with MP4 (i can play it without problems if they are stored in my HDD), i have problems only with MP4 and OnlineVideos (stream MP4).
So i think is not a codecs/splitter problem.
besides I don't thinks is a codec/splitter problem because with 0.8.5 ALL works fine with the same settings

Yes, that is what i am speaking about. I am afraid, you ere wrong.
Local and streamed media need diferent handling (defined in registry). Source filter is different, not local but URL.
No need to have MP4 splitter installed, haali is preaty good to handle it.
