That is odd. Why is it available at all in XP? I can edit the registry settings just fine, and I get stereo AC3 to my receiver even. o_O

    Hi Emph,
I use MPAR with multichannel AAC, I don't re-encode though, I use WASAPI and it is picked up by my amp as PCM 5.1, I don't select any of the mixing or re-encode options.

5.1 AAC is handled correctly, the problem is 2.0 AAC without mixing or conversion that fails
    MP1.2.3 using mpaudiorenderer_1.3.0beta_v1.zip
All filters/codecs set to LAV 0.5.4
LAV Audio settings - Bitstreaming Formats: All boxes unticked / Mixing: disabled / Speaker Configuration: 5.1
Receiver is 5.1 connected via optical spdif

I have it working correctly for both multi channel and stereo AAC.
The settings I have that are different to yours are that I do have bitstreaming selected in LAV Audio settings (I know this means that MPAR is then not engaged for that audio, but I am okay with that) and I have speaker configuration set to stereo. If you have the speaker configuration set to 5.1 in the Windows Control Panel, for stereo it will fill the empty 3.1 channels with silence.

I have written this up in the Wiki page <here> it is towards the bottom under 'WASAPI'

Looks good. Could you enable the "Log sample times" debug option from the MPAR's property page (can be accessed from MP config or graphedit) and then post the log again.

Also it would be good to test with some other WASAPI capable audio player if there is sound coming out of the audio card.

    I have a question.

When I use MPAR and I want to play a mp4 video from a online videos site (gametrailers, hardwareinfo), it gives me this error: playback not possible (translated from Dutch). Is this a known issue? It doesn't happen with the default direct sound device.

I'm running 1.30 alpha with the original MPAR and latest lav filters.

No one else has reported such issue so it is not known. Please post more details (log at least).
