I do like the Poseidon approach
What we really need is a scrollable stack layout in skin engine to have more possibilities on BasicHome screens, but unfortunately there is no dev left who cares about skin engine....

I have to agree that Backdrop was a great skin. Maybe not for all views/plugins but at least I tried to copy its BasicHome screen.

They are so fluent.

To achieve that, you'd actually need to get someone to deeply dive into the skinengine code and do a revamp - there is the root source for the slow response time/sluggishness.
This is the only real issue/complaint I still have with MP.

What I'd also really like to see is a fresh way to browse my content ..example..

I can explain a little by help of friend that not only about skin engine is the cause :

• lot of MP1's plugins (like music plugin for example) are stalling the rendering loop when they are fetching the data to be displayed, actually it might be that the Skin Engine is not to be blamed in most of the cases but the plugin code not fully good and not optimize

I also like the sub menu system of the default wide skin. Always visible, so clear that it can be selected (WAF). And not in the way of the background image.

Funny thing, this different preferences with skins.
I only use MP for TVSeries and Moving pictures, and I'm only interested in the thumbnail view on both.

As you know wizard123, I prefer your OnePortal skin, and had some feedback regarding how you showed your thumbnails there.

For any reason for me to switch, and to wildly dream.
I would like a skin as clean as possible, build in blocks.
I'm thinking Windows Mobile style.

With posters, of course, just a small strip with movie rating, genre & runtime somewere.
If I could dream even wilder, I would probable make the thumbnail-size adjustable, with responsive design in how many rows/columns it can display.
That may be a Moving-picture feature though, not the skin, but one can dream, right?

I don't at all mind fan-art though, So it wouldn't have to be completely static in one color. But so many skins have some wierd urge in showering me with info and graphics.
I just want to sit back, relax, and choose a movie of my liking.

That looks very well indeed. Seems like the standalone mediaplayers are catching up GUI-wise.
