re: crash on TV server upgrade RC1=>RC2

Just noticed that jameson_uk is on XPSP3, so this is not OS specific.

Also thinking again about it, the crash is in SetupTV before new tvserver is installed, so it is quite possible that the issue is in RC1 setuptv, in which case there is not much we can do (except make sure RC2 doesn't have the same issue so RC2->whatever won't crash as well)

In addition to those magic 8-balls and crystal balls we could try to raise some fund for the time machine and make few minor adjustments to the RC1. Althou I think it wouldn't be valid at that point since most likely some of the devs would have been back ported the 1.2.0 fixes into the last black xmas release.

    just for information:

did also an upgrade one hour ago from MePo RC1 to MePo RC2 -

    WinXP Home SP3
    Single-Seat
    mySQL (5.1)

i had NO crash while installation of the TV-Server ...
all went smooth and clean ...
all files are available (channels, net-folders etc.)

Good thought, but why would it only happen for some users then?
If its a general issue in the RC1 (un)installer, then everyone should suffer from it, or?

Not sure at which point it failed exactly but when I launched the installer again it said TV Server RC2 was already installed

    Did you use DeployTool?
For me after the TVServer installation failure, TVServer was not upgraded and DeployTool would refuse to upgrade, so I just run the standalone TVServer installation which worked.

This should be easy to check. Compare the times in installation logs to the exception event in Windows' Event Viewer.

Did you do the update _directly_ on the PC, or did you use a remote desktop / VNC / logmein / etc. connection?
