re: crash on TV server upgrade RC1=>RC2

Would you mind sharing some details?

I have no logs. I did a complete fresh install. Now it's up and running again :)
But i tryed several updates on rc1 and they all failed on the tvserver
Did you do the update _directly_ on the PC, or did you use a remote desktop / VNC / logmein / etc. connection?

I did a direct update on the htpc...
    using my sql

Okay, so the theory that the update fails only with remote connections is false.
    Thanks for the info. :)

Re : crash on TV server upgrade RC1=>RC2

    Hi,

Same as first post : RC1 to RC2 : run the installer locally, (all default setting installation), and installer crash (sorry, no graph or text of the error).
TV server not responding and will not start in windows service. No reboot ; uninstall only TVserver/pluggin, and run RC2 installer with "fresh install" (no choise), and he's installing TVserver/pluggin.
Run MP, MP config and TVserver config , everything works well. (???)

    If it helps....

    Regards.

re: crash on TV server upgrade RC1=>RC2

Ok, I guess I get the same error as all here: I've tried installing RC2 over RC1 on XP SP3 computer as well over VNC as directly and I'm using a MySQL database.

However I get a slightly different error, when Deploy tool comes to installing TV-Service:

Short translation: Unhandled exception in the application ... System can't find the specified file.

The complete log of the .Net Framework debugger can be found here:
    -> Informationen ber das Aufruf - Mediaportaö install bug - 6A3VEc3W - Pastebin.com

    And here the TV-Server logs:

    :D R(i)SK!

    One more question.
Those of you who have the upgrade failing. Do you use the default install dir for TvServer or a custom Dir?

or was tvserver running at the time of upgrade?
I closed mediaportal with ALT-F4 and started the upgrade (default directories). It failed like mentioned before. Uninstalling TV-server and installing it again solved it, keeping all my settings.

I use custom paths for complete MediaPortal installation:
    Code:
    C:\Multimedia\MediaPortal
    C:\Multimedia\MediaPortal TV Server

or was tvserver running at the time of upgrade?
I assume the service was running when I started the update but isn't it supposed to be shutdown by the deploy tool, is it?

O.K. Sorry, no logs, am @ work.

Same Problem updating dedicatet TVServer Win7 x64 local.

Error was something like "File not Found in DeployTool" (have it @ home, will post later)
Error is not in the MP Logs, but it was (I think) a "Framework error".

After uninstall and new install all works well.

For me it seems that MP is much faster.

    Thanx to all dev's :)

    regards

Edit: custom Path. Installed on E:\HTPC\Mediaportal TV TVServer

AW: crash on TV server upgrade RC1=>RC2

for me with NO crash -> default path

could be the fault - if Deploy-Tool needs more time to find the / a custom-path ...
so the TV-service is still active - allthough the update is running
    result - the tv-service crashes ...

short delay or an "if/then" protocol would fix that ...
