The fast change code won't speed up channel changes across the board, only dvbs2 channel changes will be quicker

The card would always attempt dvbs prior to dvbs2, now it can call dvbs or dvbs2 depending on the channel.

Ie going from bbc2 to channel 4 hd will be approx 2 seconds faster then without mod

Well maybe it's the Mdapi Plus having an effect, but for me it is now instant between say BBC1 and BBC2, where as before it took seconds. Some encrypted DVBS2 channel changes take seconds - some are almost instant. I'm very happy because the slow changes were the only flaw in an otherwise perfect system. Seem to be having a problem with EPG grabber (Only got program info for BBC3 and BBC4 so far  ) but I'm sure I can sort that after dinner.

Mdapi plus will have 0 effect on fta channels :)
Can't see how it would improve over the old version either except for an easier install as your <insert plugin here> still does the majority of work.

Non hd should be fast, sub 1 second change. hd and encrypted between 2-4 seconds I'd say. My Sky HD box changes from dvbs2 to a different dvbs2 transponder in 3 seconds. Mepo is very close to matching it at present ;)

Note that if you change from BBC One HD to ITV HD this will be 1 sec or so as the channels are on the same transponder (you can record BBC HD, BBC One HD, ITV HD from 1 tuner - don't think the sky boxes can do this ;) )

I think all the non hd movie channels are all on the same transponder last time I looked, so you could record every movie being aired from 1 tuner :D

Very good work to all the devs tbfh, 7 Media Center produces 7-8 seconds of channel change time ;)

I'm not sure if I have mine set correctly, but someone may enlighten me...

In the cam settings, I have told it that it can decode one channel per tuner.

In MD*P* I have a separate login for each tuner - so 6 user accounts - that links back to my lil ol' linux server :)

Is that the way others do it?

Yes, but you can set the tuners to decode more than 1 channel per tuner by setting it to zero, and that means you can then record as many channels as are available on the transponder it is tuned to - as onelegend points out, this means you could record every Sky SD movie channel concurrently on a single tuner.

I've played a bit more with Sky grabber, and I'm still failing to get the epg data. In the config settings, Sky grabber scans and says EPG updated etc when I grab just like it used to, but in mediaportal, I still only have data for BBC3 and BBC4.

    Any ideas?

did you drop the database after you installed and ran the sky grabber?

Edit, drop database instructions in case needed as they are a bit buried in thread:

    Stop the TV Service.
    Close Setup TV.
    Open MySql Command Line Client
enter your password should be "MediaPortal"
    then type
    drop database mptvdb; [return]
    Now open SetupTV.

I deleted the database when I was installing sky grabber because it said 'failed to update database' so I had no choice. After database deletion, it installed, so I presumed the install had recreated the database? (though I didnt see the screens I usually see when I've installed MP). The thing that has thrown be a little is the fact that BBC3/4 has data

From your question I presume that I need to make a new database. This is kind of easy with a full install because it walks you though it - but how do I go about installing one now?

EDIT: ninja'd by your edit :) I'll try it now

Aye (rough) current procedure I use to install (from clean)

    Install 1.2.2
Install git sky grabber installers - tvserver and client
copy custom data grabber and sky plugin
    - drop the mptvdb
run tv server config, setup everything needed and scan with sky grabber :)

Unfortunately that has not worked - now there is no data anywhere at all, not even on BBC3/4.

EPG log just shows that zero info has be added for each channel :(

Thanks for that - I'll go change it - at the moment if we watch the same channel in both rooms it uses two tuners..

And also, if we watch the same channel in two rooms, then in one room the channel will "loop" i.e. keep looping round every few minutes or so - so we always avoided watching the same channel!
