@DJBlu Any ideas on this?? I've changed the schedule to update every 1 hour, and again nothing happens. All I see (while timeshifting) is every hour two entries in TVService.log, e.g.

[2013-09-24 14:00:00,348] [Log ] [PowerEventThread] [DEBUG] - TV service PowerEventThread 30
[2013-09-24 14:00:00,348] [Log ] [PowerEventThread] [DEBUG] - TV service PowerEventThread 30

These are contained in the TVwriter logs, what does it mean?

    26-09-2013 18:26:35.645 CDiskRecorder::Flush() - Throttle to 32336 bytes (max)

    Hello Chris

    It is normal.
Basically, when TV Server starts timeshifting it ramps ("throttles") up the size of chunks it writes to the HDD. This enables us to balance reasonable zap speed without sending too many I/O requests to the HDD.

    clever :)

Still also getting the damned continuity errors. Sky asked me to change the LNB frequency on the decoder to 10.74Ghz rather than the standard 10.75Ghz and that seemed to solve it for the box, but I can't make MP read the LNB with the equivalent MHz setting.

Should uninstall this and try native MP on Freesat as it was four (futurerama) that was giving the errors this time (no clever software installed at all just DJBlu's mods).

    Indeed. :)

...which might indicate the continuity errors really reflect signal quality issues. Why not just ask Sky to replace the LNB? They know those LNBs die after a certain time, and LO drift is the typical symptom.

Can you confirm: do you get stutters in other software as well? What are your signal strength/quality readings like?

...but I can't make MP read the LNB with the equivalent MHz setting.
You should be able to do this with the LNB override frequencies.
In the scan section, tick the advanced option, then tick to enable the LNB override frequencies. Enter 10740, 10740, 12750.

If you're failing to lock with those frequencies, try 10745, 10745, 12750 etc.
Drift could be up or down.

Should uninstall this and try native MP on Freesat as it was four (futurerama) that was giving the errors this time (no clever software installed at all just DJBlu's mods).
I haven't followed your comments on this issue so maybe you've already been given this advice: attempt to reproduce the problem in other software. There were a bunch of continuity error issues reported for this mod. This might be explained by the mod being a bit more HDD intensive... though I understand DJBlu has introduced some mechanisms to reduce/throttle/spread the HDD load.

    Cheers MM.

So, using the official release and tuning to a FTA channel (Four) I have no continuity errors or PMT mismatch errors as present in the modified logs. Both log directories attached.

So, what does this mean? What is @DJBlu modifications doing (apart from the obvious) that would cause significant errors that cause disruption on the tuned channel.

All the HDDS in the server are 7200rpm jobbies with enough cache, OS is Server 2012 R2 standard preview (until the final release and then I'll upgrade), no problems with Argus Recorder either so what could it be?

Answers on a postcard? (Blue Peter if people are old enough :) )

At a guess, scanning for channels and updating EPG as designed, but this is where my knowledge ends.

It's weird as after the initial scan and populate, it stops for 3 hours (default settings) so I'm assuming that it doesn't need to anything but playback the tuned channel... Hopefully DJBlu will come swinging on by :)

OK, I spoke to soon with regards to my problem. I had set it to grab every hour, and after a reboot it seemed to be working, so I set it back to grab at 3.00am, rebooted again (just to be sure!) and again nothing, it just wakes at the allotted time and then goes back to sleep 5 mins later. I'm going to revert to the old version and see what happens tonight.
