Bugger, so no way around it yet? I'm thankfull that Newscorp sold its 44% stake in Sky NZ then! Although they use NDS Videogaurd 2 there doesn't seem to be a push to change!
I wouldn't say that NZers are safe by any stretch of the imagination. Just look at how hard Igloo is locked down - CI+, no cards, subscription linked to box. IMO a good predictor of where Sky would like to go for their main service.

I was simply suggesting that the main force behind this UK change, the murdoch group (owners of BSkyB), is no longer part of Sky New Zealand. As far as I understand it, the incentive for this change was security... There was just simply too much card sharing going on across europe. As far as I can tell, there doesn't appear to be any where near the same 'commercialisation' of the sharing market here in NZ unlike the Europe where it was quite easy to find a 'provider' who could supply most of europes satellite channels at 10GBP per month.

Now I'm not saying it won't happen, as Sky NZ still use Videoguard 2 by NDS BUT I would imagine the incentives to uproot an entire mysky(+) population to enforce this sort of tech is low bearing in mind it involves swapping out old boxes for new ones.

Anywho, I hope DJBlu gets to the bottom of this card problem, not for the sharing aspects as I don't agree with that, but for the continued support of this awesome work as it has allowed me to get rid of a very dumb MySky box.

The strangest thing about the pairing update is that the cards are due to be swapped next year anyway. I'd have thought it'd make more sense to implement new pairing with the new cards.

Are the guilty EMMs unique types? I block all others.

Perhaps the new boxes have new tech that is currently hidden waiting for a full card swap? I think my last UK card swap was in 2009 and that was simply a new card and my existing HD box at the time... ANything on the horizon from sky (full IPTV for example) that may indicate why the change now?

I doubt anyone will get to the bottom of it. The pirates have/will move onto IPTV. They have taken their money and ruined it for the few that have legitimate reasons for using the card outside of the official receiver.

It's a shame as the setup at home is almost redundant in regards to TV. I am thinking of getting rid of my hd/premium subs all together. I can do without movies and sports until/if there is an option in the future.

I will continue to support this plugin so keep up the feedback.

    It was 8 unique EMM's.

@DJBlu Going back to a previous question about the NZ plugin, do you know why it duplicates the free to air channels on each scan but deletes / replaces the Sky based ones? With a 3 hour window for updates it will continue to add duplicate fta channels until the database gets huge or I kill them from within TVServer.

The FTA muxes are different to the Sky ones and are dedicated to FTA only, could that cause issues?

Cheers buddy, appreciate when you have the time.

Another question, do you know why the plugin doesn't automatically pick up all the channels on scanning? Perhaps that's a bit misleading sorry but it appears that each scan can be completely random and either pick up all the channels or some of the channels. I'm testing the tuners at the moment to understand why I had a really long tune delay (appears to be if I have tuner(s) without a sat connection the connection has a massive delay), and I keep doing scans and this round required 3 grabs before I got all the channels (as above I got repeats of those FTA channels already in the database).

Hi, I still have issues with grabbing. Just deleted all my channels and started a new grab. It finds the channels and adds them to the database but I would estimate about 95% of channels have no program entries in the guide. The channels all appear to be there, just without any data.

    Thanks!

EDIT: Ran a repair on my database and did a re-scan and it appears to be fixed :) Not sure whats gone wrong there. I am seeing lots of different BBC channels in my guide though even though I have a region set. Maybe something I have done.
