First let me say thank you so much for making this plugin!!!! I had almost given up hope on this LCD.

1. When I go to My Plugins and select CybrDisplay I get the standard MP settings screen with some garbled extra text on the screen. I am using Blue Two. My question is do I need XML files for each skin to make this screen look correct? I have only installed CybrDisplayPlugin.dll. I have configured it and everything seems to be fine except the settings screen in My Plugins.

2. Do you know anything about LCD Smartie? I was wanting to use LCD Smartie but they have not been able to get a driver working for this display. If you could post on there forums some suggestions or tell me some to post or whatever help you could add to this end would be appreciated.

3. Thanks again you rock!!!!!

EDIT:

Lmao - I went back to the LCD Smartie forums all happy to post that there is hope and I looked at the name of the person who started the thread and low and behold it is cybrmage himself. Guess that answers #2 for me. Now my question is. Have you reworked the LCD Smartie plugin to work like this one? If so I must be missing something for I could not get it to work. If you say it should then I will go back and try again.

Reinstall it... Doing an uninstall removes the IRTrans server as well as the client program... which is needed...

After you reinstall, make sure that the client program is NOT running and that the IRTrans server IS running.

Also, The LCDHype driver requires that the DLPortIO DLL is installed... make sure that it is.

Well I'm back here. I've done the reinstall and still is not working. DLPortIO.DLL is in the media portal dir under program files, so I suppose it's in use.

I've done tests with and without the "MCE Display Driver" of the IRTrans distribution. Not working. With the driver it shows the word "Mediacenter" as I said before.

Can you give me any other direction?

Thanks again.

The registry changes may mess things up, but somehow it all still worked on my system. Although I have gone back to starting MP normally again. The fewer hacks, the better.

So... you're telling me that I've been chasing ghosts?!?!?!?!?

The extra registry changes will not mess things up.... I just means that the iMon manager will be restarted every time...

Hopefully, the iMon manager issue will no longer be an issue (at least for the NON-HID devices) soon...

Display backlight does not switch on. The LCD display works fine (at close range) and messages appear but in the DARK!

The logs do not show any issues.... no errors, no exceptions... nothing...

The logs show that the AlphaCool driver supports backlight, and that you have it set to maximum....

Have you tried the brightness level set to minimum??? Does that backlight work properly with LCDHype?? If so, what version of LCDHype did you use?

If the display' backlight is on when you run MediaPortal, does it stay on or does it turn off?

Does the backlight work if you use the "External Display" plugin??

Hi all,
i'm italian
sorry for my bad english :)

I have two questions

1. Can you see the number of songs when listening to an audio CD?
2. Can you see the chapter number when watching a DVD?

thank you

You can configure it to show whatever you want, as long as the information is exposed by a MediaPortal component.

A screenshot would be useful.

do I need XML files for each skin to make this screen look correct?
No. The XML files are generated dynamically as needed, based on the skin you are currently using. Also, POST LOGS!

Guess that answers #2 for me.
I guess so...

Have you reworked the LCD Smartie plugin to work like this one?
No it has not been reworked, and it never will be. The display interface for LCDSmartie is VERY limited and development seems to have stopped. The plugin for it does what I needed it to do (for my Antec Fusion Black)... and I have since stopped using it.

Your logs don't show anything.... The LCDHype wrapper does not have much logging so I'll have to add some... check back (read the version history is the first post) in a few days.

Obviously... you did not read the first post (where it is stated that the driver now shows up as a Windows plugin)... You also did not read the HD135 thread where it is stated that you need to use the COM port that the device is mapped to... The MPlay hardware driver maps the USB port to a virtual COM Port.

OK, maybe "messing up" wasn't the best choice of words. It may be technically more correct to say that the changes (that I was making with my little script) were not necessary. I just had to wait for the checked USB delay to pass, which can be easily seen by looking at the display. From that moment on, the remote also works fine (as opposed to moving the mouse arrow).
In any case, the entire display plugin works like a charm for me for quite a while already now, and I have set up my Harmony remote to do everything I want.
At this point I'm just making small refinements like setting the inter-key delay for my Harmony a little higher because sometimes a keypress was sent twice. But that's really small stuff.

But the CybrDisplay plugin is great. It gives me a very informative and helpful display.

>Have you tried the brightness level set to minimum??? Does that backlight work properly with LCDHype?? If so, >what version of LCDHype did you use?

Yes, I tried all variations but with no luck. I tested C.ALL with LCDHype 0.6.0.5 (latest) and it worked fine, but C.All doesn't work fine with the latest MP SVNs (crashes MP). Plus i believe that your approach is far better, and supported.

>If the display' backlight is on when you run MediaPortal, does it stay on or does it turn off?

It switches off.

>Does the backlight work if you use the "External Display" plugin??

No, just tried it. It remains dark.

It seems like the command to switch on has the exact opposite effect...
Is there a way to use LCDHype to get the data from your plugin? The property browser seems to have all the fields i need...

Thank you CybrMage!:D

I have attached my logs and a screenshot. I am using a SVN version of the client and TV Server. I get the same results for 2 of the themes I tried it on.

Do you have a replacement you would recommend for LCDSmarite? I can use the iMon software to display non-Media Portal actions but I was looking for something better.

    Hi Cybrmage,

I still have the problem whereby the IMON remote stops working whenever cybrdisplay is started. I've tried various combinations in the advanced settings, including not using auto-detect to no avail, and am relying on the workaround of manually re-starting and stopping frontview through IMON Manager. Logs posted in my last post.

I still have the problem whereby the IMON remote stops working whenever cybrdisplay is started.

relying on the workaround of manually re-starting and stopping frontview through IMON Manager.

Also, there is no way to change these options "on-the-fly" without shutting down and restarting the iMON manager... so it is NOT possible to programatically perform the "workaround" that seems to work....

I have tried every possible reasonable method to get the iMon Manager to control the remote properly with the HID based devices... There is NOTHING more I can do...

    So... You have 3 options...
    1) Use the "workaround" manually every time you run MediaPortal.
    2) E-Mail SoundGraph and complain to them about the problems that their software causes.
(Good luck with that!!! Average response time from SoundGraph is 4 to 6 weeks... typical answer from SoundGraph (paraphrased) too bad.)
    3) Get a functional and reliable IR receiver to suppliment your display device.

I have figured out how to communicate with the remote hardware driver directly and can receive remote keypresses for both the iMon PAD and MCE remotes without interfering with the display and without the iMon manager running. This means that the PAD remote can be interpreted in "raw" mode (without the artificial restrictions of "mouse" mode). I have passed this information along to and-81, who is the author of the "IR Server Suite" (A much better solution than integrating remote support into a display driver), and he is incorporting support for it.

Unfortunately, the new iMon hardware will not be supported with this solution, as the new hardware does not use the "SG Remote Control Device" driver... How the iMon Manager communicated with this hardware is unknow and undocumented (like almost all of the other hardware by SoundGraph)....

I have already purchased three of the new HID based devices... All three were defective and had to be returned. I do NOT plan on buying any further hardware based on/around the SoundGraph devices.... So those with the new HID devices will have to wait for information from SoundGraph or reverse engineer the devices to get the information required to program remote support.... OR use the workaround... OR get a cheap Microsoft MCE remote (They can be purchased for under $20 if you look hard enough).

    UPDATE:
I have just spoken with and-81 regarding the iMon HID devices....
He has generously agreed to make a test version of his "Generic HID" plugin available so that some data can be gathered from the iMon HID Devices.

If you have one of the HID based iMon devices, please check in the IR Server Suite thread HERE for this tool and try to gather some information from the devices.
and-81 DOES NOT have any SoundGraph hardware!!! SO:
Please ensure that you run the tests with iMon Manager NOT RUNNING!!
Please document what hardware you are using (and firmware version reported by iMon Manger)...
Please document what remote control you are using (iMon PAD or MCE remote)...
Please document what buttons you are pressing....
Please follow ANY instructions that and-81 may includes with the test tool to the letter!!!!!
If and-81 does not instruct otherwise, Please post any logs/data/information in this thread so that I can make sure that it is not overlooked!!

This will be the BEST opportunity for proper Remote Control support for those with the new HID devices... Please DO NOT waste this opportunity!!

    HID Update

    From this post Here
    Cybrmage:
Attached is a console test app version of the Custom HID Receiver.

    Cheers,

    - iMon Manager status = iMon Manager is off
    - iMon software = iMON_7_01_0204_BETA_ENG.zip
    - iMon Hardware = iMon OEM LCD
    - Remote = iMon Pad

    I download IR Server Suite - 1.0.4.1 and the 2 files. I installed 1.0.4.1.
    Extracted the 2 zips.
Renamed P:\Program Files\IR Server Suite\Tray Launcher to Tray Launcher Original
Put the new Tray Launcher folder from the zip in its place.
Put the contents of the Custom HID Receiver folder in P:\Program Files\IR Server Suite\IR Server Plugins
Ran Input Service Configuration.exe and selected "Custom HID"
Service restarted with my new selection and I closed the configurator.
Ran the new TrayLauncher.exe and selected localhost and MP as my start application.
Tried to map the button but it just times out no matter what button I press on the remote.

    1. Is this the correct way to test this? Did I install and put the files in the correct spot?

    2. When I run Custom HID Receiver.exe I can press the buttons on my iMon pad and all work except the numbers (and a couple around the mouse dial that I don't think should return input anyway). When I say they work in the Custom HID window I see the return values of each button I press being recognized (except as mentioned above).

    3. I have not started up MP thus far so I have no logs to post yet.

    4. Any ideas on Earlier Post
