    I have tried every possible reasonable method to get the iMon Manager to control the remote properly with the HID based devices... There is NOTHING more I can do...

    OK, thanks cybrmage. I certainly appreciate all the effort you've put in here, and can certainly agree with the observation that Soundgraph are unresponsive and their software is flaky. I certainly will avoid this hardware in the future.

    I will try the IR-Server test and report results in that thread in the next few days. I couldn't find any specific test version, so should I just use the latest IR Server (1.4.2)?

    Hi Guys,

    I installed the newest PlugIn, but I've a problem.
    I got an Origen AE with a VFD and a MCE remote control,
    when I use LCDHype it works with Ir Trans Driver and everything is alright,
    but the PlugIn don't work with it, so I choose the MCE Driver... so far no problem,
    now I start MP and I only the Introduction "Willkommen in Mediencenter" (german ^^),
    nothing more, when I go ahead for example in My Music you can see how the
    display switches in Date/Time and then back in the Introduction...

    hope you understand me,
    do you got any ideas what is wrong?

    I tried other drivers aswell but of cource they don't work,too.

    thx for help

    Generic serial LCD...

    Hi all,

    First, thanks a lot for this plugin !
    I'm using it with the generic serial LCD display driver and I have a problem...
    My display is a 2x16 H44780 compatible one (SPLC780D) modified to work on serial com port.
    It works fine with LCDSmarties.
    I've configured the plugin like LCDSmartie : only display init, cursor down, clear display and return home.
    Test display button doesn't work but when I launch Mediaportal, I have information on the display.
    The problem seems to be on the 2nd line, this is what I have (see Screen.txt attached file).

    Do you have an idea ?

    This is the link to the datasheet : http://www.hebeiltd.com.cn/lcm.datasheet/SPLC780D_DS.pdf
    To control my display, I've just need to add 0xFE before character command (i.e. : return home = 0xFE 0x02)
    The cursor dowm parameter is in fact a gotoline2...

    1. Is this the correct way to test this? Did I install and put the files in the correct spot?
    Well.... You took the long and overly complicated route... but if it works....

    The two files in the post by and-81 are for two different issues he is working on....

    The custom hid one is the only one we are interested in... He has compiled it as a stand-alone executable... Extract it into a temporary directory and run it from there... you DO NOT need to have a full installation of the IR Server Suite (at least, not to run the test application...).

    2. When I run Custom HID Receiver.exe I can press the buttons on my iMon pad and all work except the numbers (and a couple around the mouse dial that I don't think should return input anyway).

    Can you create a text file (sorry... the test application does not do any logging) with (at least some of) the data show in the window?? ie: usage value, usage page value, what keys you press and the value(s) shown for the key. Also, please indicate the device string for the HID device you selected on the setup screen(when you run "Custom HID Receiver.exe"... the setup screen shows the HID devices that you have installed on your machine... please post the entire string that starts with "\\??\HID")

    Also... If you run iMon Manager, run notepad.exe, make sure notepad has focus, and press the number buttons on the remote, what happens??? do the numbers get types in the notpad window???

    Could you also post a screenshot of the device manager, showing the HID devices section... thanks

    4. Any ideas on Earlier Post

    The first issue has been resolved...
    The second issue... I do not use any other display driver since I stopped using LCDSmartie, therefore I can not make a reccomendation

    I couldn't find any specific test version, so should I just use the latest IR Server (1.4.2)?

    Follow the link in the post by Tide.. the Custom HID file in that link is the test application...

    Please follow the instructions and post the same information I requested of Tide. Thanks

    Hi Guys,
    when I use LCDHype it works with Ir Trans Driver and everything is alright,
    but the PlugIn don't work with it, so I choose the MCE Driver... so far no problem,

    the LCDHype driver seems to have issues.... I haven't yet been able to track them down.. check for a new version with extra logging for the LCDHype driver later in the week...

    Do you have an idea ?

    Logs (configuration and mediaportal) would have been helpful.... but at least you provided enough information that I may have found the issue... try the latest version of the plugin... (although I will need the configuration log to figure out why the "test display" button does not work)

    iMon Results

    I have done as you instructed Cybrmage and here are my results.

    I have attached a zip file containing screenshots of the information you asked for.

    1. Shows my Control Panel HID section as well as HID start string window. The number matches the number in my Control Panel. I put both windows in the screenshot.

    2. Shows the iMon Pad and the order I pressed the buttons in.

    Green Lines = Buttons that were received by Custom HID Receiver.exe in the output window.
    - The output window shows 2 entries for each press and release of a button

    Blue Lines = Things that work but not in Custom HID Receiver.exe. They include the mouse stick and all the buttons around the mouse stick except the Mouse/Keyboard button. This is the one button in this area that is recognized by Custom HID Receiver.exe. As you suggested I opened Notepad and yes all these "Blue" buttons work in Notepad. Also note the "Esc" button is a "Blue" button it is recognized in Notepad but not Custom HID Receiver.exe.

    Orange Lines = Numbers - These are not recognized by Custom HID Receiver.exe but are recognized in Notepad. I guess they qualify as "Blue" but at the time I made the pad layout pic I did not know that.

    The Tray Icon as I stated before does not recognize any buttons pressed when trying to map a remote button to launch the specified application.

    Thanks for all your work on this Cybrmage please let me know what you want me to try next.

    I have done as you instructed Cybrmage and here are my results.

    EXCELLENT!!! Thank you!!

    1. Shows my Control Panel HID section as well as HID start string window.

    Could you also post a screenshot of the control panel with the "keyboards" and "mice and other pointing devices" expanded...

    2. Shows the iMon Pad and the order I pressed the buttons in.

    For the "blue" lines... are the captions you provided the keypress that appears in notepad??? What exactly to the mouse pad directions do (cursor movement I suspect)???

    For the "red" lines.. do they show up in the HID test or the Notepad test?

    The Tray Icon as I stated before does not recognize any buttons pressed when trying to map a remote button to launch the specified application.
    this is to be expected at this point... I will discuss how to proceed with and-81 and let everyone know...

    Thanks for all your work on this Cybrmage please let me know what you want me to try next.

    I am going to have to transcode all the information you have provided so far... Once I do, I will post it and ask that you verify the information before I pass it along to and-81...

    What happens in the HID test if you press a single button and hold it down???? does it repeat the same code??? or does it only give a single pressed event and released event??

    but in mp I try to use the mce driver,
    it seems to work, but not correctly...
    you understand?

    haven't had time to go over your logs yet....

    I have attached a new zip with the requested information

    Blue lines = I forgot to say what they do sorry about that.
    - All of the following letters work in Notepad and not in Custom HID Receiver.exe
    A = Backspace
    B = Space/Select - Not sure when select would be used but space works in notepad for this button
    C = Mouse Thumb Stick - When 12 (From the diagram the Keyboard/Mouse button) is pressed with iMon Manager running the actions of this stick and maybe other events toggle between keyboard and mouse style. That is when in keyboard moving the mouse stick is like hitting up, down, left, right instead of the mouse moving. I say that because although the HID test recognizes the Keyboard/Mouse button it does not change how the Mouse Stick operates. That is is does not make it act like a keyboard or mouse depending on the toggle.
    D = Context Menu - Seems the same as right click
    E = Windows Menu
    F = Right mouse click
    G = Left mouse click
    H = Enter
    I = Esc

    Red Lines show up in HID Test again I should have made them "Green" but I did the pic before the test.

    To clarify : In my picture the numbers represent the order I pressed the buttons in. I had 34 buttons register within the HID test. I did the picture so you could match up the presses with the output from the HID test window. The HID test output window should contain after the first 2 startup lines 34x2 lines (I have not counted). I was going to take the time to put boxes around the HID window output 2 lines at a time and put reference numbers by each box but I did not do that. If you would like me to take the time to I can. The point is the first 2 output lines are from pressing and releasing button 1 in my picture. The last 2 lines are from pressing button 34 in my picture.

    When I run the HID test and press a single button and hold it the first line of the 2 output lines repeats until I let go. Example: When I press button 5 and hold I get:
    "Remote: 00-29-B1-95-B7-00-00-01-01" repeating until I let go and then I get:
    "Remote: 00-29-B1-D5-B7-00-00-01-01"

    Sorry for leaving stuff out. Can't wait to get all this working!! I will as I have been check this post regularly until we get this resolved. Thanks again!!

    Thank you.

    C = Mouse Thumb Stick - When 12 (From the diagram the Keyboard/Mouse button) is pressed with iMon Manager running

    with iMon Manager running??? did you have iMon Manager running for all the testing???

    If you did... Please redo the test without the manager running and verify that the same data is returned (one or two keys should be enough to verify the HID values... all the notepad keys should be redone.... the main idea is to get rid of the manager completely.... I need to know what the mouse pad does in both the HID test program and/or the notepad without the manager processing any data. does the Keyboard/Mouse button change the function of the mouse pad when the manager is not running??

    Also... Please provide a screenshot of the HID, keyboard and mice sections of the control panel with the iMon device detached (for comparison purposes).

    Thanks

    No iMon Manager was not running during any of these tests. I just included that information since the button is not exactly funtioning like it does when iMon Manager is running. I am not sure it is supposed to yet I just wanted to include that detail for completeness. I added a little to my post above to clarify this a little as to why I included it.

    I have the HID attached internally in my case. It is a HTPC so getting in there is a ........... you insert the word. I say that to ask you do you really need a screenshot with it removed? If so I will do so but if I can avoid the pain believe me I will.
