Test program is still leaving the remote in mouse mode, even though it is set for keyboard mode.

parkuhr: just to confirm.... YES... I WAS ignoring you.... for a few reasons....

    1) I am working on an issue that affects ALL users of the iMon devices...
    2) The way you worded you "question" was ambiguous, and I did not understand what you were trying to say
    3) After our last exchange, I knew that no matter how I answered you, I was in for grief...!!!

ok, then my impression was right. i also wrote bevor, that i can understund if you have no time for this problem now, becouse you have more important problems to fix, atm.
so, i didn t know hat the reason was, to ignore me. just something like sorry, to much work or anything like that and
i ought to have understood it....

And I hardly think that taking five minutes of your time to post an "issue report" is a huge imposition on you!

you are right, under normal conditions not....

several months ago (November 2007), parkuhr requested a feature - display a clock on the VFD on shutdown of the plugin. I tod him that it was not possible, the VFD hardware does not support it.

Well, he showed that the hardware he has does support it.

not just a clock. i think its date and time from frontview.
i have date and time if the computer goes in hibernation/standy and also in off-mode, but last mode i am not 100% sure.

but therefore some settings in frontview are necesary, to atcivate this feature of the vfd.
i also wrote a guide in the past, how to activate it.
its all in the many threads i wrote about this.

in the meantime, i have spoken with many other peoples their vfd`s are doeing the same.
so i don t beliefe till now, that i have special hardware.
i see also as indicator, that there is an option for this in frontfiew.
you can choose there under frontview/auto-modus/standby-message to display clock.
but this options is only availble, if you did bevor some steps. i wrote everything about this, in a guide, to help also other people with that.
its all in the threads, like i told above.
but maybe i am wrong and you are right, but now, i think, this isn t important anymore.

There are many people here that not only take the five minutes of their time to post an "issue report", but take HOURS of their time to do what you have proved to be unwilling to do.... they run tests, they install software to aquire data, the post logs, they run more tests...

    You need a reality check!!!

yes, this is so. i also did everything i could do. i tried my best to give you all the informations you needed.
but if even the manufactures don t has the inormations you needed, what could i do? i can t do magic.
so its not correct to say i was unwilling. thats not the truth.

After explaining that there are many different versions of the hardware, I told him (again) that the hardware I have does not support it, and that after trying to figure it out and failing, he would need to help determine what command activated the clock on his display, as I don't have his specific hardware.

yes and exactly this, i was trying to do, later on.
i gave me best to satisfy your need of informations.
you needed very specific informations (it was not easy for me to find out what you was meaning). i tried my best to give you this informations.

i gave you links to manucacturer of my case and other informations i had.
i searched hours in the net to help you with inofmations about my display and much more.
but all this things you didn t refer here.
you only quotet the negativ part of your comincations.
that a bad style and also not fair.
thats far away from beeing objective!

    His response....

this is a technical aspect of the software and your part of the job! i have proven that is possible with software to show time and date in standby/hibernation mode. so i have done my part of the job!
i am no dev and no programmer. i am a enduser only...
    the rest is on you.

for this part of our comincation in the past, i exused me, several times. but this also you don t refer...

So... his level of assistance in getting an issue resolved ends at a (very vague) report of the issue....
i helped as good i could and followed all instructions you gave me.
i am not developer of the display. it was very hard for me to understund all things you would have...

sorry, but this is alo not fair...

Also... IT HAS BEEN LESS THAN 13 HOURS SINCE HE ASKED THE QUESTION!!!! (12 hours 43 minutes to be exact!)

thats was not the problem at all. like i told above.
i have understunding that you can t answer my request becouse of more important work atm or anything like that. i only wantet know, if i got ignoried or not. now you have answerd my question...

    "official" answer to his issue:
The iMONLCDg driver does not, in any way, shape, or form, make changes to the clock format used by the iMon Manager!

The options that it does change are:
RCPlugin - To make sure that iMon Manager can control the remote
RunFront - To make sure that the driver can control the display, and to give control back to iMon Manager
MouseMode - to try and make sure that iMon Manager starts with the iMon Pad remote in "keyboard" mode

If you select the "Restart Antec/iMon Manager FrontView on exit" option, the driver changes the "RunFront" registry value to "always", changes to the iMon Manager directory and executes the manager program... nothing more.

If the iMon Manager decides that it is going to reset the clock options if these options are changed, then that it a decision that SoundGraph has made regarding the operation of their software.

You should contact SoundGraph to ask them to fix this anomoly in their software.

i thank you very much for this explanation. i use imon6 and upgrade now to7. maybe it helps.

i also thank you for your great work.
i appreciate that you work hours to help people. i can imagine, that this is really hard.
for our diffculties in the past, i once more excuse me.

i know now, that i am not welcome for your support and i am not gona bother you anymore.
i pounce, that i am on my own, like i was it, the whole time, from my first display reuqest till now...(no offense, just the way i feel/felt at the whole story)

    regards

    Hello Cybrmage...

FIRST of all, i know you are busy with the iMON problem and don't expect direct assistance! IT IS NOT YOUR JOB!
(you already did an an excellent job with the plugin!)
I just want to add some of my findings about the ALPHACOOL display that might help you when you find time to deal with the problem...

    1. ALPHACOOL GLCD 200x64 has only one setting for backlight ON/OFF. No contrast or brightness (unfortunately)

    2. I managed to turn the backlight on with a trick. I started Mediaportal -> Minimized it -> used the ALPHACDTool to turn backlight on -> and back to MP. (not very useful cause my wife and kid mainly use the mediapc)

3.If i instruct CYBRDISPLAY to TURN OFF BACKLIGHT(while playing video etc.), it switches off but not on.I would like to be able to use the functionality of haveing the LCD switch off because of inactivity...

    4. Using the above method (with the backlight on) when i exit MP backlight turns off and momentarily flickers ON>OFF.

I was wondering if you do something like a "fade" and somewhere among the brightness/contrast values is the one that ALPHACOOL LCD thinks is the ON command. How can i check that? Is there something like a USB sniffer?

    Thank for listening,
    Stefanos

P.S.: Coming to Canada this summer! Yuppie!

    Ok... That helps....

3.If i instruct CYBRDISPLAY to TURN OFF BACKLIGHT(while playing video etc.), it switches off but not on.

    Well... At least part of the backlight control works 8-}

    4. Using the above method (with the backlight on) when i exit MP backlight turns off and momentarily flickers ON>OFF.

Which leads me to believe that this isuue is a problem with either the LCDHype driver implimentation, or the LCDHype API....

So I have made some changes after going over the LCDHype SDK again....

Try the latest driver.... run configuration and set the backlight slider all the way to the right... and then run MediaPortal and report the results.

Is there something like a USB sniffer?

You need to read the thread... that subject has been mentioned THREE TIMES in the last day and a half.

    Hi,

i installed TV Server 1.0 RC1 and installed CyberDisplay for my AlphaCool 240x128 Display. I also used this plugin in the previous Version. I had an xml File for configuration. But now the Plugin ignores my xml file and ONLY cares about the stuff configured in the "Configuration Manager"....... Am i doing something wrong?? It doesnt even make a CybrDisplay.xml file if i delete my version.... I know there where 2 Files in the root of Mediaportal, but now there are none and the Display is still working and showing the stuff that is configured via "Configuration Manager". But where the hell is the file where the stuff made by the "Configuration Manager" is safed in???

    Can anyone help??

    Please??

    Regards

    Dirk

I've got an Antec Fusion v2 (Black) and with MediaPortal 1.0 RC1, the display doesn't work anymore, even with the test display button in the configuration. Any ideas?

    Edit:
I did remove the power before, but I just tried it again and it works now.

    Hello cybrmage!
first of all: many many thanks for your effort, it just rocks and it has given a completely new look to my iMON VFD, wich before barely sucks :D
sorry if i just jump in, i tried more than a couple of searches in the thread with no result so forgive me in advance if my questions is trivial or worse, abused :)

my question is: what about displaying rss defined in mediaportal plugin during the idle time of the display? (instead of blanking, for example) would that feature be uninteresting? technically bothering or is it being planned?

I ask that because one of the features that had me with the iMON was that opportunity, but being em quite a bunch of teabaggers results have been at least disappointing ^^

thank you in advance, and for the neat piece of work again ;)

    Hey,

i found the CybrDisplay.xml it is now located in an other Path. You can find it now in (for Germany):
    C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\All Users\Anwendungsdaten\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal
    (for English)
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Programdata\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal

That's all. I can't find the sense behind changing the path's...... but ok.

And... If you read the first post in the thread... You would know the reason for the change in paths (and the path you stated is only valid IF you are running Windows XP)... and the procedure required to migrate to MediaPort 1.0 and it's Release Candidates....
