I hope that is clear enough. If anyone has any further questions I'm more then happy to answer them.

One more thing, and you have to be absolute clear on this. Can you register the filter arion_p posted?
We are still confused whether that one works or not. And since that is the one we want to use, we really need to know for sure.

In my tests the MPAudioSwitcher.ax supplied by @arion_p in post 19 fails to register. I got the same access violation (cx00000005) as with the MP 1.2.0 Beta installer.

And the MPAudioSwitcher.ax supplied by @Seidelin in post 17 registers successfully. I also built an installer with this MPAudioSwitcher.ax included and this installed fine.

Is this to do with different c++ redistributables?
Presumably correct version should be using 2010 ? Could the install of this failed?

Deploy tool reports MS Visual C++ 2010 redist is successfully installed. I have also ran a repair on the VC++ 2010 redist and the results are the same.

Do you have 2008 sp1 redist?

Not sure what the version numbers indicate, see the attached GoodPC & BadPC images. The MP1.2 Beta installed OK on the GoodPC and failed on the BadPC.

We shouldn't be using the the 2008 runtime at all, so it shouldn't matter. Another difference is that bad PC has 2005 runtime, but that should not matter either

    No.

Bad PC does not have VC++ 2005, good PC does - so it doesn't matter :).

Bad PC does has VC++ 2008 KB2467174 though, good PC doesn't. This is the MS11-025 security update referred to by @jameson_uk above.
