Question is, at least from me, ist that the right behaviour? If i use my HTPC and it is taking control of my ambilight, and i tell it to disable the leds, shouldnt the leds be disabled? Instead of just getting cleared from their priorities?
If i select "LEDs disbled" in the context menu, i want them to turn off, and not to take the color that was used before i started my htpc.

Originally it was designed to not conflict with live capture as that has its own priority (default of 400), if you exit MePo and enable live capture it would be fine as you haven't cleared it so will work right away.
However if you are using live capture in external devices (STB / Console) and exit MePo or put the machine in standby it would disable live capture as well, it's a rare scenario also because most don't use live capture so we could add an option to do a ClearAll and have it enabled by default.

Clearing the app priorities should be no problem as once they re-sent the command the priority gets activated again.

I have a general config question around capture size.I see the size is defined in Hyperion and in Atmolight. Both are square. Having a 16:9 aspect ratio, wouldn't it produce more accurate colour representation by using a grab size with that aspect too? If I were to change it, is it enough to just change Atmolight (I don't have USB grabber, just MePo).

    Thanks!

Depends on which values you want to use. Default is 64x64 if i remember right. If you change that to lets say 64x36 (AR 1.77) then you will decrease the resolution for the vertical leds, so the colors will get less accurate. If you change to 114x64 (also AR ~1.77) you will indeed increase the accuracy, as you increased the horizontal resolution but kept vertical the same.
Keep in mind, higher resolution means more strain on your HTPC, your Network and your Pi.

    Yes.

    Hello,

I'm new here and i'm going to build an ambilightlike setup.
    The stuff i got is:
    4m WS2812B Led strip
    Raspberry Pi B+
    HDMI Splitter
    HDMI2AV
    USB Videograbber STK1160
    5v 10a Power adapter

Only thing left i need to order is an arduino?
But i was wondering when i connect my power adapter to my led strip don't i need to put a condensator between it?
And which one do ineed? i'm not that good with electricity: http://www.kiwi-electronics.nl/prototyping/condensatoren/elektrolytische-condensatoren
Also the topic starter recommended a resistor between the data line from the arduino to the led strip, which type of resistor do i need? http://www.kiwi-electronics.nl/prototyping/weerstanden
Most sites says 470 ohm but 1/4 watt or 1/2 watt?

Hope you guys can help me out.

    Greetings

Best to use the Fushicai UT007 instead of the STK1160 as that one is more reliable, only thing missing is indeed the Arduino Uno R3 :)

im very new to this ambilight stuff. it is stated above that "any" arduino uno r3 or above will be sufficient for this ambilighting project. so can i assume that buying a Arduino UNO R3 board with DIP ATmega328P would still be ok?
i already have an rpi2, and the ws2812b rgb led's... but i only just found out that i still need one more component, being the arduino, which is fine as long as i am buying the correct part the first time around. i have already been through approximately 5 other parts that were not correct. now i am trying to make sure before purchasing, as this is meant to be a cheap hobby to keep me busy in slow seasons of construction.

i should also add, that i will be powering the rp1 and the led strip separately with their own 5v2a power supplies, and i have the understanding that the arduino would power through the usb off of the rpi so another power adapter would not be needed... is this correct also?
