can't we use the "in progress" images (like tvseries) to indicate something is going on in the background? You would still need to code though. But (almost) all skins will have built in support for that...

The loading rotating thingies would be a good choice I think, perhaps with the text "Loading" next to it.
Putting in some placeholder graphics sounds good if the FanArt takes a couple of seconds to load. But in reality, it takes maybe half a second to load. Switching from the old FanArt, to some Placeholder and then to the new FanArt all within half a second, would perhaps make it look like some fast-cutting MTV Music Video.
That's why I would like the loading image better.

I dont think the new remote method is that great, would love to be able to choose between the old and new way.

I wont switch to the new version on my main media center because of this, have to many movies and its almost impossible to get it to go to the movie I want.

I think that and graphic or "please wait" indicator becomes extremely repetitive the zillionth time you're forced to see it on the screen. A new user would benefit, but after a few times, they'd quickly learn that there's a delay anyway and wouldn't need constant reminding.

For users like me at any rate, having this type of visual hand-holding should be something that can be disabled in the config ideally.

Exactly the reason why I would like something subtle, like a little loading image, instead of some placeholder graphics.
Good idea to be able to disable it in advanced config though.

I'm working on some improvements so you can jump through the list using the "starts with this letter" method. In the future the "new" remote control will be tightly bound to the filter system. The legacy remote control will be toggable with a configuration setting. I have created an issue for it.
