Thanks for that Keith it works brilliantly and has picked up my files.

I now have another problem however which I'm hoping one of you guys will know the answer to !

I gathered all my vobs up and created an iso which I mounted with Daemon tools. I then loaded up DVD Decrypter so I could rip out the individual episodes into their own folders.

Every time I do this I'm left with the vobs, a VTS_01_0.ifo and a VTS_01 - Stream Information.txt file. The problem now is when I open the ifo file, whether it be in Media player, Power DVD, VLC or Media Portal it doesnt do anything.

So I thought ok, I've got the vobs, I'll delete the ifo and stream info and use Ifoedit to recreate the ifo's I need. So I load up the vobs and it creates a VIDEO_TS.IFO , VIDEO_TS.BUP and a VTS_01_0.IFO , VTS_01_0.BUP.

The good news is that if I open either IFO file it starts to play the vobs but the bad news is I've lost all my fast forward or rewind capability.

Any ideas ?

Thanks for any advice.

I dont know if this will help anyone but i have all of my dvd's ripped and they show up in MP TV series. They are stored like this

root\TVShows\Show name\Show name - 01x01 - Pilot\VIDEO_TS

And have these in the parsing expressions

simple - <series> - <season>x<episode> - <title>\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.IFO
simple - <series> - <season>x<episode> -\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.IFO
simple - <series> - <season>x<episode> - <title>.avi

It gets all of the dvd's and avi's.
I'm trying to use keith2045's way, but the problem I have is this:
If i have a DVD Season One, Disc 1, then it has it's own VIDEO_TS folder for each of the episodes on that disc..lets say four episodes. If I use the parsing expression: simple - <series> - <season>x<episode> -\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.IFO then I will have to have a separate folder for each episode, right? Which means I have to copy the huge VIDEO_TS folder as a subfolder to each of those episode folders taking up a lot of space? Am I looking at this from the wrong angle? I've tried so many expressions that my mind is mush.
Here is the format I have on my HDD:
root\TV\Show name\Season <season #>\Disc <disc #>\VIDEO_TS

Yes. I have all of my dvds ripped to my hdd. So you copy each VIDEO_TS folder under a folder with the series name - seasonxep - title and then it will work. I think i heard a suggestion of TV-Series importing all shows that you had on DVD, then prompt you for that DVD when you try to play the ep, i dont remember if it was ever implemented. You might want to search for it.

Thanks for the reply, Keith2045.
Sorry to sound like a dud, but to make sure i understand, let me use an example:

My current arrangement with an example movie:
C:\TV\Sopranos\Season 1\Disc 1\VIDEO_TS
In this case, VIDEO_TS (disc 1) has the first four episodes on it.

You're saying to set it up like:
C:\TV\Sopranos\Season1 x Episode1\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.IFO
C:\TV\Sopranos\Season1 x Episode2\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.IFO
C:\TV\Sopranos\Season1 x Episode3\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.IFO
C:\TV\Sopranos\Season1 x Episode4\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.IFO
If I do it like this, then I have the same VIDEO_TS directory under each of the episode directories since the four episodes are on the same disc (or within the same VIDEO_TS folder). So I would have four different copies of the same VIDEO_TS folder, using four times the amount of space, right? I'm just thinking that if I have the whole Sopranos box set ripped and it's over 100GB, then that would essentially be 400GB (give or take).

Did I interpret right?

Appreciate the response, and the patience. :)

Have you figured out what was wrong? I can fast forward, i just have a problem rewinding. It will rewind, but when i have it set to rewind at 2x it looks like it is rewinding at 16x.

Also when you play these videos and it is over does MP stop the video? On my setup it wont stop the video at the end, it just shows a black screen with 00:00 left to play.

Finally, i cant get my reg exp to see double episodes, well kind of. When i do a test it sees the double ep, but it wont import it. Any thoughts?

Yeah, for the most part. You could set up your folders like that (you would have to change the reg exp a little, just a tweak).

If you use a program to rip your dvds it will create separate video_ts folders for each episode. When you just browse to the dvd drive with windows explorer it has them all listed under 1 video_ts folder. If you copy the 1 video_ts folder to each episode directory it will play the whole dvd each time. So if your dvd is 100GB and you use the software to rip the dvd, it will take up 100GB on your hdd (unless you compress it, which most rippers all you to do this).

Hope this helps

I had these problems too but I changed the .vob extensions to .mkv and this way they are viewed as individual files. This solved the problem for me and don't know if it would help for anyone else.

(You have to have the matroska splitter installed for this).

Hi keith, what codec packs have you got installed? I know I was told you need both fdshow and matroska splitter installed. Also use filmerit to check your codecs are ok. The mkv thing works perfectly on my system and saved me a real headache, sorting my files etc.

Let me know if these suggestions help.

I always get the same problem, but figured it was because my server was weak (512mb RAM, crap video card etc)

Hi Guys, my first post on a Media Portal forum so bear with me.

I have come up with the folowing to allow me to point TV Series to a DVD containing multiple episodes. Of course you cant go directly to an individual episode this way as it just fires up the DVD and you have to choose from the DVD menu. But that is exactly what I wanted.

I use SQLite Database Browser.

I ran a manual import on Disk 1 of my TV show DVD, selected the e:\video_ts\video_ts.ifo file as the file for the first episode.

I changed the primary key of the database table "local_episodes" to the "CompositeID" field from the "EpisodeFilename". Then I could enter the same path in the EpisodeFilename, ie: E:\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.IFO ( you cant have identical entries in a primary key).

Look at the entry for episode 1 of my TV show and you will see a bunch of data entered in various columns. Just add records and copy the data from episode 1.

Hope this makes sense.

I have not found any problems with this yet, so I dont think the primary key is being used for any thing. The only issue with this is that when you go to the episodes you cant toggle only one as watched they all are watched or not watched. Oh well at least I can select any episode and it goes to the DVD player, thats basically what I wanted anyway.

Update: 1 problem found, TV series no longer keeps track of how much of a show you have watched and will no longer ask if you want resume at that point.
