Yes, it will update everyday from now on. If you check in your Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\log directory, there is an epg.log file.

Here is a clip of mine:

    2006-10-17 22:32:31.687500 [Info.][Zap2it EPG Client]: Imported 5978 of 6122 schedule entries
2006-10-17 22:32:34.093750 [Info.][Zap2it EPG Client]: Last program entry in database was 10/29/2006 7:00:00 AM, now 10/30/2006 6:00:00 AM
2006-10-17 22:32:34.093750 [Info.][Zap2it EPG Client]: Removing any overlapping programs
2006-10-17 22:32:46.953125 [Info.][Zap2it EPG Client]: Committing the transaction
    2006-10-17 22:33:00.968750 [Info.][Zap2it EPG Client]: Scheduling next poll for 10/18/2006 10:33:00 PM

So basically, it will update the EPG data again at 10/18/2006 10:33:00 PM :) Works like a charm!

Can't get get zap2it plugin to work

I first tried the xmltv download fro sourceforge, but there was no NortAmerican grabber.
So next I tried the zap2it plugin, and I can communicate with zap2it in the configurator. But when I start MP I can't get an EPG to download. I looked at the epg.log (it's very short). The last line says:

'Scheduling first poll for zap2it listings...'

But then nothing happens. Every time I activate MP it's the same story. Am I missing something?

    Hi,

You are going to have to give us a little more information. :)

Start with the full log please, if it is long you can paste it here:
    http://pastebin.team-mediaportal.com/

Without the full log we cannot see what time it scheduled for
or what time was that posted in the log.

Are you using the latest stable release of MP or SVN?
The correct version of the zap2it plugin for that version of MP?
    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/showpost.php?p=85350&postcount=227

How long are you waiting for the EPG to update?
For the first time give it 15-30 minutes depending
on the number of channels and days for your lineup.

Have you done the auto-scan of your channels in the MP configuration?

    HTH,
    patrick

    zap2it plugin failure (or me)

I have tried two versions of the zap2it plugin, the first one with MP 0.2.0.0. I then uninstalled MP 0.2.0.0 and then downloaded and installed MP 0.2.1.0 and the current version of the zap2it plugin. Anyway, here is the contents of the epg.log file:

    11/12/2006 10:04:47 PM 937 [Info.] Zap2it EPG Client: version 1.7.2487 starting
11/12/2006 10:04:47 PM 937 [Info.] Date of last program entry in database currently 1/1/0001 12:00:00 AM
11/12/2006 10:04:47 PM 937 [Info.] Configured to grab 13 days of EPG data
11/12/2006 10:04:47 PM 937 [Info.] Scheduling first poll for Zap2it listings at 11/12/2006 10:05:02 PM
11/12/2006 11:03:31 PM 906 [Info.] Starting EPG refresh job on thread #6
11/12/2006 11:03:31 PM 906 [Info.] UTC time is 11/13/2006 5:03:31 AM, local time is 11/12/2006 11:03:31 PM (DST is False)
    11/12/2006 11:03:32 PM 250 [Info.] Zap2it EPG Client: stopping

The last three lines appear in the log file when I shut down MP. As you can see from the log there appears to be no activity for approximately 58 minutes.

I did the auto scan of the channels when I first installed MP 0.2.0.0.

    Is WebEPG a problem?

I also see that MP always wants to see the WebEPG folder. One time during the transition from MP 0.2.0.0 I got a message that said that WebEPG was incompatible for current configuration (best I can remember). I only got this message one time. I tried to move the WebEPG folder to another location on my HDD thinking that would solve my problem. But each time I activated MP, the WebEPG folder would get restored before the MP splash panel appeared. There is a WebEPG.log file in my log folder. Its date stamp is 11/12/2006 10:04 PM (same as epg.log) and the size is zero. Is there a conflict here?

Strange, have not seen that before for this plugin.
I am assuming you are running WinXP SP2.

Does your MP box have a heavy load?
Reason I ask it that the EPG refresh thread (set to a lower priority) does
not appear to be able to start until MP is exiting freeing resources.

Did you completely wipe out your MP folder and start with a fresh install
when going from .2.0 to .2.1?

    OK, System Properties say:

    Micro$oft Windows XP
    Media Center Edition
    Version 2002
    Service Pack 2

And I did NOT wipe the MediaPortal folder when I uninstalled MP 0.2.0.

There is nothing besides MP running at this point other than Task Manager.

    Got it!

I uninstalled MP, wiped the MP folder, and reinstalled MP. Did an auto-scan on TV channels, tried to do the same for Radio but it didn't find anything. Set up the folder paths in Cofigure, Setup the zap2it plugin. Started MP, and within a few minutes I had EPG data. I looked at the epg.log file (a lot bigger now) and the only real difference is that the plugins starting priority was lower (875 vs 937 in previous install).

    Thanks guys,
