Expand TVSeries to a sister plugin? My Films? (1 Viewer)

Would it no be quicker to just add the mediaInfo.dll info into the existing core video plugin? or are you trying to achieve something completly different now?

I remember some of the earlier conversations, and for me at least what with the new c#script searches, i am pretty happy with the info and cover art that my vdeos now has (check out the hybrid IMDB info + movie-xml high res covers script).
The only bit missing is the mediaInfo so I can tell whether I am going to be watching a 720P, 1080P, etc.. movie

Was thinking of grabbing that code from here and mixing it in with myVideos, but not sure if that was cool as it is a core component.......................who is the coder for that part?

Originally when I started this Movies Plugin, I decided against contributing to and enhancing the existing My Videos functionality because I felt it was designed with a different goal in mind. While it's movies support is improving, at it's core it's meant to be a multi-purpose video management tool. It's meant to support all types of video files, be they movies, TV shows, clips, anything. Because of this there are limitations with how specialized you can make the interface for any one task.

That being said if you want to integrate some of the code in this project for the My Videos component, go for it. Although integration with the mediainfo.dll library hasn't been implemented yet. And I am not sure who the core contributers are for the My Video component are, but you could look at the history of the files in SVN to find out pretty quickly.

We are making good progress. In broad strokes the back-end and configuration screen are pretty much done. There are a few tweaks that need to be made here and there but things are looking great and both are very close to releasable. The GUI front-end for MediaPortal itself is functional, but it still needs a good bit of work. This is the home stretch so to speak before the first release. I think we'll be able to have a beta release of our first targeted version by the end of the month though.

I am away from my development machine at the moment, but tonight I will try to post a few screen shots of the plug-in in action.

That's great news fforde. How will things be like skin-wise? Will this plugin use the TV-Series layout or the My Videos layout? Hope all the popular skins will support it. I'm positive it will be that good.

The skin layout is going to be a little different from both the TVSeries and MyVideo plugins, but it will be most similar to MyVideos. You wont be able to reuse the same skin file, but I am trying to use the same control IDs for similar items as much as possible, which will hopefully speed along skin development.

I am doing testing with the Aeon and Monochrome skins though, and when we release we'll try to put out a skin file for each, then skinners can start adapting it to their liking.
