Fanart Handler (70 Viewers)

So far so good - better than good! FANTASTIC! Numeric named Videos are matching, in fact all my videos match perfectly so far! Although I only have about 100 in my test DB.

In Music, I have spot checked about a hundred and so far all are matching perfectly. I get the Artist Images again AND the fanart shows first YIPEE! But I still don't get Album images. Did you disable that?

I will try to load all 860 videos and give it a really thorough test tonight. I will see how many of my 2500+ artists are working if I don't go cross-eyed first!

Hi Dadeo,

Thank you for your feedback. The problem with the album images is that they are named Artist - Album. I get no match since the "- Album" is part of the filename. The only way is to match on left of the "-" sign but that could cause problems for other things like movies. I will try to find a solution to this but if you have a suggestion please let me know.

Cool! However, I am not sure how high a priority album images should be as they are rarely good enough quality to be used as backdrops especially on HD screens. I was using them as backdrops in aMPed and advised users to increase their thumbnail resolution in MP Config, but most of them still found the quality unacceptable. I think I am unusual, having high quality images in my ID3 tags.

What I have done in aMPed so far, was match on #selecteditem2. In MyMusic that means you get an album image as a backdrop in Artist View and an Artist Image as backdrop in Album view, which is nice. Alas, in Track view there is no Artist or Album property supported - it is all concatenated into the song title. So nothing will match there - I don't think even with the fanart handler (but I haven't checked it in the latest beta yet.)

In any case, I feel the priority should be on exact matching. If you can find a solution for album art, that would be awesome for users like me who have a lot of high quality album images. What might be a possibility for future is to add sub folders to the skin fanart music folder so users can retain nice high quality covers they have downloaded. It drives me crazy when I play a song and last.fm lookkup overwrites a nice image with a crappy one!

Unless, of course, you manage ysmp's suggestion to download album covers from htbackdrops as well. We are a greedy lot aren't we!

you can see her Home Theatre Backdrops */*Music Artist Thumbnails
thay dont have Album covers on thir ...but if we talk abut Album cover have her ...Album Art Exchange - High Quality Album Art / CD Cover Art: Home .... or just google ...

Beta 3.2 available (solved the album bug).

PLEASE NOTE;
The plugin is now renamed so delete the old befor addign this. Also wiki and user guide is updated (no more mention of xfactor in them). And last but not least the tags that you use in your skin has changed. See the wiki.

Yup, everything seems to be working for me as well. Nice job on the album images cul8er! Now I have a lot of work to do improving the quality of the ones that are still craptastical!

I have a couple questions/suggestions. I hope you can advise me.

1. What is the purpose of the ScoreCenter fanart handler? Doesn't that plugin already support fanart with it's own fanart folder and display diff images for each sport?
2. For Random Movie/TV Images, how do you know if a user wishes to use #fanarthandler.movie.backdrop1/2.any or #fanarthandler.movingpicture.backdrop1/2.any? Sure, a skinner can add both codes and make them conditional, but perhaps in the plugin config users could select which random backdrop they prefer to display? This would only apply only to movies and TV, where there are two options for random backdrops.
3. Actually, I am not clear on the purpose of the random TV backdrops (as opposed to TVSeries fanart). When would a user have these?
4. A minor point - I found the fading transition in your example in the Wiki, where it starts at 10% visible, resulted in a slight dimming when there is only one backdrop (e.g. movie backdrops). It looks like the plugin redisplays the first image if there is no second image?? Of course, it can be easily resolved by changing the start value of the fade. I just wanted to point it out in case there is something you can do in the plugin so it doesn't do that if there is not a second image. Cuz I liked your fade animation otherwise and would like to use it.

Now that everything is working so well, I am proceeding with a full beta implementation throughout aMPed. I'll keep you posted

Am I correct that the fanart handler will not work in Music or Video Shares views?

I got it to work in MyVideo shares - the fanart must be named exactly as the file name (of course!). However, in Music Shares, can you match like you did for album covers? I realize it is impossible to know how users have named their music files, but I think most use 'artist - .....' so at least in that case it could match like it did for album covers?

I have started looking at automating download of music fanart from htbackdrops (now that matching works good). No promises but things progress well

Here's a fun one - if you have album art turned on, then under Various Artists you get all the album art cycling!

What are you guys getting in MyMusic Track Listing? Mostly I get no backdrop, but with album art turned on, I occasionally get some interesting matches - it seems to match on the track names. Unfortunately I don't recognize the covers .
