i thought that this is known i got the hint from chemilli which is developing the minidisplay plugin. KeyboardInputplugin is an external plugin just search for it in the forum and download Version 2.1.0 NOT 2.0.0.

Keyboardinputplugin is really great you can do things like:
key press 's' do X when window Y is active but do Y when window Z is active if none of them is active do V - if MP is playing video do A if not do B and so on and so on. You you can really use a key for 50 things regarding in which part of MP you are...

has anybody already tested the "force restart after driver start" checkbox? i quickly did it without result. the lcd responds, but the remote doesn't, als i'm not able to get the plugin running. perhaps i should also read a little about it first:oops:

my main question here is: do you need to enable frontview with this setup?

    thanks

    Hi mrkaras,

So far everything is working great for me.
But (there seems always to be a "but" :) ):
Could you implement the "turn off display when idle" or in the advanced-tab (of the matrix-orbital) "turn off display when showing video - active for x seconds"?
Is your program open source? Would be interesting.

    Greetings,
    Jo

I tried to test the force restart thing but I souldn't get minidisplay to run my display at all, I have before so Im not sure what I did wrong. maybe I'l try again later.

gru the update I have just posted will allow you to set a time to blank the display, it could be possbly improved, but see what you think. set it to 0 for no blanking

@swisBuster I have added something for your clock display too. on my setup the time and date are shown, not scrolling but I have built something so you can read it at a distance. for a static single line time you could check "add clock" and disconnect the serial or disable minidisplay so the display doesn't get MP updates.

yesss!!! i managed to get the vfd AND the remote running. strange way tho. i was messing arround in the setup trying different imon versions to get the version with te frontview pluging
(MediaPortal - Setup guide for Silverstone LC16M Case | iMon Remote Setup, iMon VFD Setup, iMon Front Button Hack) when i installed version 7.40.0806 or to keep it simple, i pressed the update button.

i don't know if it was the version or if it was a setting in the mediaportal config, but it's working. one small bug, when i play something e.g. a radio station, and i press down when the graphic bar is showing on the display, then mediaportal get's very slow. the music is seamless, but mediaportal does not respond and the display freeses. perhaps playing a little bit more with the settings. i will post some important settings too. maybe it could work for some of you.

i have selected never in the imon frontview, i use the imon pad, with the keyboard as the initial mode selected.
i imported the mediaportal application configuration (see link, but my remote worked before i did this. you can check this when pushing the volume buttons in mediaportal.

in mediaportal i selected "keep mediaportal always on top (not nessesery, but solves a bug when you resume form hibernation.
in the plugin section i selected the imon display via usb selected to turn of the display on exit
under advanced i have selected :
ensure mediaportal is running before driver start,
force restart after/force reload during driver start
force to use keyboard mede with imon pad

if you are interested about more settings, then you need to ask. now im off to test some equalizer options. see if i can remove the bug there.

thanks for the help... all of you :D

    Another hint -

If the Imon remote is working erratically or intermittently not working then replace the batteries. Sounds really simple but there have been a number of times when i thought imon was stuffing up, but it was just low batteries. The thing is that the remote chews through batteries fairly quickly, the red light still works when the battery is near flat and when it is near flat i find that some keys work some keys don't work so it fools me into thinking the battery is fine.

Anyone had the problem where the silverstone/imon memory card readers dissapear from XP and you can't get them back? I've tried deleting and reinstalling all the usb devices in device manager, i wonder if the usb plug inside the machine has gotten loose, but it's a P.I.T.A. to pull my HTPC out of the cabinet to check.

I have also had problems with my remote and only some butons working, its not the batteries (well, fresh batteries may get around it) but the pads on the inside under the buttons. that stuff seeme to come in varing qualities, and the imon is not that high. to fix it, ope hte remote and superglew tiny bite of aluminium foil to each of the pads (or just the ones you use most). it works much better (unless the foil falls off, then you get all sorts of strange button presses :) )

Anyone using the girder plugin for imon. I'd really like to loose the imon software completely.
girder has an imon plugin, so i think you can skip imon software completely now (which would be nice)

did not know about girder. will test it tonignt.
    and some bad news too.

after taking a ghost image of my disk i rebooted, and it suddenly didn't work again. very bizarre. i tried going some steps back and redoing them, but with no result. when i run mediaportal, it works in the beginning because the lcd plugin isn't loaded completely yet, but as soon as the text is showing, the remote stops responding. damn!! so close

gonna try setting the ghost image back and see if it works again, if not i will try girder. fingers crossed and lets hope, because this is getting really annoying.

p.s. i tested again with the updated mp2imon tool, but again with no result.
