Can you explain the difference between ATI and Nvidia? Why does it work with Nividia?

He'll most likely answer better drivers - but this mustn't be true ;) I guess they have 1. another handling for multi threaded actions 2. not that much/aggressive stencil buffer optimization than ATI (started with Radeon 8500).

From my personal experience with ATI drivers (have owned 8500 and 3450) I would definitely say that its more buggy drivers :) But from technical point of view it is most likely just pure luck that Nvidia has such driver code that is more forgiving towards badly behaving applications (like MP).

    Nice comment.
I will keep this in mind...:D

Hope that MP2 will behave more gentle.

Nothing has changed for me (Radeon 3200). It flickers only with MPEG2 hardware acceleration codecs like Power DVD. There is no flicker with HDTV-channels using Power DVD (same behaviour like before).

For me it is gone (juhu):
1.) Onboard ATI 3200, Vista SP1 32bit, ATII Driver Rev. 9.1, ATI RegistryTweaks imported
2.) external HD3850, Vista SP1 32bit, ATII Driver Rev. 9.1, ATI RegistryTweaks imported
