I'll try and explain my problem when I'm home tonight...I can't seem to configure the plugin to show up on the plugins page, and not in home? Is this true? I just want to test it out before replacing "My TV" with this. therefore I would like to access it from the plugin-page...everytime I change it to "Plugin" in the config-screen, it's back to "Home" wwhen I reopen MP Config.

This is before as of the 1.3 release, ForTheRecord replaces the main tvPlugin. After you install it, you will not have the standard MP MyTV anymore.
I suppose it is a bug that you cannot place it in the plugins, but since you installed ForTheRecord we would have to assume that you will use the TVsection a bit and therefore it is logical to have it in the Home-menu.
I can see the problem in your case though, but you will not be able to "test it" in the plugins menu while still have the MyTV in the Home menu anyway.

The only way to test this, is to install it, play around with it, and if you don't want it to be there when the rest of the family wants to use the HTPC (if there are other than you using it) then uninstall ForTheRecord.

Interesting, i know tourettes recommended deleting the old renamed version of the dll, but i managed to run FTR for a week without doing this, and thought everything checked out fine, never saw any issues whatsoever, could this be a shadow copy issue, i have windows restore function turned off, plus a few other error reporting services disabled.

Something like FTR is definately the future, particularly for the Aussies, as their broadcasters muck them about on TV schedules, as do a few other Country's, just feel lucky we have pretty consistant epg in the UK, so problem very rarely occurs.

You can multiselect all channels by clicking on the first one and shift-clicking on the last one. Then hit the delete button.

Groups you'll have to delete one by one, but you'll have much less of those than channels normally :)
I dont know why I didnt think of shift clicking before  Thanks for reminding me that not everything needs a code based solution :)

Actually, I posted a dummy TVPlugin.dll in this thread last week which can be used to bring back the TV plugin settings in Configuration.exe.

Version 1.3.1 will install this dummy DLL during its setup. So in that case you'll have a TVPlugin.dll.disabled, a "new" TVPlugin.dll and the For The Record plugin assemblies all in the plugins folder.

I fear this will cause issues when installing an SVN on top of that (TVPlugin.dll will be overwritten), but there's not much we can do about that :( All we can do is teach people to make a backup and copy back the dummy TVPlugin.dll after installing an SVN.

Oh, if just everything came with a setup-guide like MediaPortal ;)
I guess you must have overlooked it on the download page, Steph wrote an excellent installation guide : http://www.4therecord.eu/files/For The Record Installation Guide.pdf

Actually, this was the reason why I first installed FTR. I wanted to make sure that even if sme shows was moved a little in the epg, it would still record it correctly. I've found that this does not happen too much either here in Denmark.
But the greatest thing I've found that FTR can do, is prioritize schedules. This feature is great. I have a bunch of shows that I don't follow religiously but just likes to watch when I have the time - things like Mythbusters, South Park, some shows on DIscovery Channel and so on). I have these set up with a low priority, so that if there is nothing else on it will get recorded - otherwise the more important program ust gets recorded. Since there are a couple of reruns for these shows I have it set up to only record new episodes. This means that if the first instance of an episode gets recorded, the reruns are not. But if something else is recording at the time of the the first instance, the reruns (which are usually at some odd time, like 10 in the morning or middle of the night) will get recorded.
I think this is one of the features that I have come to love most about FTR.

Also, all my girlfriends shows are off course set to "ultra high priority" so I don't accidently record some old Schwarzenegger instead of the new episode of Grey's Anatomy. She would be very unhappy for a loooong time. :D

    4tr Card priority

Using v3.1 and noticed something odd with the way recordings seem to happen.

There 5 cards in my system and when watching live TV the cards higest priority and chosen as I would expect. Recordings on the other hand seem to start on the cards with lowest priority. All the cards have the channels in question mapped to them and live TV was not active.

Does 4tr record follow the normal rules for card priority when recording?

    Thanks

    Trevor

In 1.3 it uses the reverse priority for recordings as for live TV. In version 1.3.1 there will be a new switch in the Settings panel of the Management Console to use the same priority for live TV and recordings if you prefer this.
