If I install For the Record, is there a fool proof way to uninstall it so that MyTV and everything works just as before?
If you install For The Record the original TVPlugin.dll will be renamed to TVPlugin.dll.disabled. When you uninstall it that file will be renamed back to TVPlugin.dll. So all will be back to standard then.

On TV server the For The Record plugin will installed/uninstalled normally too, so here as well, when you uninstall it all will be back to standard.

What is the general advice for handling automatic standby and wakeup? Should we disable Power Scheduler and MPStandbyHandler and only use the 4tr built-in handling? Or should we use some combination of these three plugins/services? What seems to work best for most people?

I don't use PowerScheduler atm, but I do have MPStandbyHandler running.

I just recently disabled PowerScheduler (been seeing a lot of crashes in MP when going to hibernate, which means it fails and stays awake) so I don't know how well it's operating right now.

ForTheRecord only deals with setting wake-up events for the computer, it doesn't "help it" go into hibernation.

Does it also mean that you set MPStandbyHandler to handle all the "going to standby", but disabling all its wake-up handling?

You do not have any powerscheduler enabled when using FTR, you do need to enable windows power settings which will now control all your standby\wakeup events for recording\epg grabbing (scheduled task running WebEPG).

When i was trialing this, i still used MPStanbyHandler using XP, Vista Ultimate 32 currently does not need it with RC4 (for my setup).

Ok then, So the general advice for me (using XP and a single-seat installation) is to use MPStandbyHandler for both standby and wake-up? I think (I hope) I get it now.

All MPStandbyHandler does is overcome some potential hardware deficencies on your system, this could be slow TVCard driver loading or Network connection.

It has nothing to do with standby\resume, that's controlled by system (FTR) or powerscheduler (FTR not installed).

    Excellent summary!

In essence, don't use any PowerScheduler plugin (not on server nor on client) when you are using For The Record, it can only interfere. In For The Record you don't need to do or configure configure anything, it will bring your system out of standby automatically (also with wake-on-LAN). The only thing you do need to do is configure your XP or Vista machine to go to sleep (Power Options in the standard Windows control panel).

Problem with channels marked (EPG Only)

Hit a bit of a show stopper, at least for the way I have my system configured.

I recently switched to using the TSwriter modded by DJBlu, get EPG data directly from the Sky feed. But to use this in conjunction with my 2 Sky STB boxes I have to map all channels to all cards and mark the channels that cant be dealt with as EPG Only.

This works fine with std TVPlugin but 4TR live TV does not seem to look at the flag so attempts to tune to channels not viewable on that card (scambled).

Did not notice till I unticked the 'Swap recorder/tuner priority' in 1.3.1 beta2....

Can you have a look at this before the next release.

    Thanks
