It seems this is already being discussed by skim reading the posts at the top of the page, but i just installed For the Record with my fresh RC4 install (wiped and reinstalled mediaportal), and now the TV plugin doesn't work anymore. This is quite an issue since i need to record something tonight as part of a series, so i have to get it working again.
Looks like its going to be another full reinstall, very disappointed.

    Hi eXDee,

It may not be that bad... Go to ...\Team Mediaportal\Medaiportal\Plugins (or something) and rename TVplugin.dll.disable to TVplugin.dll. This should restore your TV plugin in MP.

Hit a bit of a show stopper, at least for the way I have my system configured.

I recently switched to using the TSwriter modded by DJBlu, get EPG data directly from the Sky feed. But to use this in conjunction with my 2 Sky STB boxes I have to map all channels to all cards and mark the channels that cant be dealt with as EPG Only.

This works fine with std TVPlugin but 4TR live TV does not seem to look at the flag so attempts to tune to channels not viewable on that card (scambled).
So basically, the TV server plugin should not auto-create For The Record TV channels that are matked as EPG-only, right?

That should be an easy fix.

I am almost done with installing FTR, but I have a problem with the TV channels. I have two physical TV cards... one DVB-T card and one hybrid (DVB-T/Analog) card.

In the FTR plugin settings (in the TVServer Config) on the first tab I have the two cards listed as three. I suppose this is still correct since one of them is a hybrid. However, on the second tab I can only see channels from the first card, or as it seems only DVB-T channels. In the FTR console I have the same problem. Only the DVB-T channels can be seen.

Do you have any idea what might be wrong? I can see all channels (including analog) in the other TVServer config settings. I hope there is no limitation to only DVB-T in FTR(?).

No, analog works just as well as DVB-anything or ATSC.

The second tab shows all channels that are defined in For The Record itself, so if you have imported an XMLTV guide those are the channels you should see there. If you are using DVB-EPG and you auto-create the channels you'll have to manually add the analog TV channels in the For The Record Management Console, then they will show up in the second tab and you'll be able to make sure they are linked.

But I'd really recommend finding an XMLTV guide for your analog channels, otherwise your scheduling will be rather limited on those channel (without guide data) :)

I thought about this more last night, I have 4TR configured to Sync EPG and Auto Create unlnked channels. You say the fix would be not auto create channels marked as EPG Only, does this mean 4TR copies the channel mapping for each card to it's own DB? If that is the case then not auto creating channels marked EPG only on a card by card basis would work.

Bit about my card config may help

Card 1 (FireDTV with CAM and Freesat Card) - all FTA channels + FreeSat channels
    Card 2 (S2-3200) - FTA only channels
Card 3/4 (Hauppauge WinTV PVR 500 using SVHS input from Sky STB with full subscription - all sky channels)
Card 5 (DVB-T - not really used as reception is flakey)

My base set of channels, about 170 are defined for cards 3/4, I then scan and combine in SAT channels that match and are FTA or FreeSat. BBC HD and ITV HD can only be received on cards 1 & 2.

With the change the new TSWriter I needed cards 1 & 2 to know about all channels so EPG could be retrived so now the 1st 4 cards know about all channels and the the scrambled channels mapped to cards 1 & 2 are marked EPG only.

    Thanks

    Trevor

Where, and how, do you mark a channel as EPG-only? I can't seem to find this in TV server's setup...

Another suggestion: have you considered un-checking the channels in For The Record's Management Console, making them invisible in the guide?

You mark then in SetupTV->TV Channels->Mapping, after you have moved all the channels to the right pane double clicking on a channel will mark it is EPG only. That has to be done for each card in the system.

If I make them invisble will that not be for the channel on all cards?

Recently discovered this on uninstalling, it did it automatically. However i had to kill the tvservice before it would let me continue the uninstall, when i stopped it it simply said 'stopping' for about 5mins. No tuners were doing anything.
    I assume this isn't compatible with RC4?
