Hi, today my sheduled recording didn't start. In tv.log I found lot's of error messages, that repeats every 30s.

The error description is in czech, this is the translation: Calling StartRecordingFailed(Reason="Given path, filename or both of them are too long. The filename must be smaller than 260 chars, and directory name smaller than 248 chars"

I'm using FTR 1.3.3.1, MP1.0, XP SP3.

More importantly, where are you recording to? The path you created a share to seems to be too deep on your harddisk. Try moving your recordings to a higher level, e.g. C:\Recordings.

it's "D:\TV Recordings". i dont think that this is theproblem

Are you using custom recording filename formats or the default?

Or perhaps this error came from just one program with a ridiculously long episode title or something like that?

EDIT: looking back at your error that seems to be exactly it: the episode title of this program seems to contain the entire description! Your XMLTV source seems to be bad...

That's why I asked where the data was coming from ... we should in that case trancate the program title I guess when we assign it to a filename

I used the default filename format. I tried to change the LONGTITLE for TITLE in the format for single recordings and that worked for me, so I'm happy now with this setting. But yes, you should definitely truncate the filename (or the LONGTITLE) to something meaningful. But anyway, I'll try to fix the XMLTV for sure.

We'll look at fixing the filename too But the real source of the problem is your "bad" XMLTV data, yes.

Hi dvdfreak, I checked my xmltv file and I think it is correct, e.g. there is title, sub-title, category and episode-num correctly filled. So I assume, that the LONGTITLE does not work correctly, at least for non series.

An example:
