Perhaps someone from the MediaPortal development team could make an educated guess
    here?

If its TVE3 process, then a bug in BDA drivers or TVE3 itself. Althou driver side bug should be shown as kernel mode CPU usage.

    Hi together,

    one stupid Question:

What's the difference between mark the checkbox "Use TS files instead of RTSP for live TV" in the MP Plugin configuration and let the check box unmarked?

Is there any atvantage when i check the field, or in which case should i use it?

Can anyone explain me the effect of this function?

    Andi

The recordings scheduler will now keep the machine awake if a recording is due soon.

how long is this time the machine is kept awake and will there be any option to change this in any of the next releases?

Some people have no video or stuttering problems with rtsp, using the ts file directly can overcomes this.

There's no actual need to configure this, it's fully automatic. If For The Record notices the next recording is due in, say, 1.5 minutes, but your pre-record wake-up time is set to 2 minutes it won't allow the system to go into standby.

FTR seems good enough to warrant further investigation into these things... Mediaportal should definitely incorporate FTR into its infrastructure.

Oh, man, that has been suggested so many times! :D
And offcourse for us users, everybody would favour 4TR over the standard MP recording section, but for some reason the devs of MP and 4TR can't come to a mutual agreement...Unfortunately.
If I understand correctly, it's legal rights and code related or something.

While I do love FTR more than anything (except my girlfriend maybe, but FTR keeps her happy too, so I'm not sure :p), I don't completely agree that FTR (in its current state) could be used as the default TVplugin (all disaggreements, legal issues and other stuff put aside).
The true power of FTR currently lies in Management Console. Being able to set up very advanced scheduling rules for recordings, can only be avhieved from that interface. An in my opinion, with the perfect HTPC, the user should be able to control everything with the remote.

I am very confident that expanding the possibilities of what can be done from within the MP GUI and making this very user-friendly is something FTR will incorporate at some point. Until then, I as a "power-user" have no problem with going into Management consoles from time to time, to either set up schedules or correct schedules I have made from the MP GUI.

This is why I don't think FTR is ready to be the TV-solution for every single user. Even so, I do think the "starts around"-feature is worth every single minute it took to install and configure FTR - everything else is just icing on the cake that makes my HTPC-experience so much better :D

ah ok the prerecordtime is meant by this... i thought it would be much more for example if the recording starts in about 15minutes that the pc stays awake and doesn't go to sleep... for saving hdd lifetime^^

got some nice logs for you to examine... again^^ wondered why the htpc is still awake, should have slept since 8 o'clock... don't know if it is the same problem with epg it was last time and i thought you fixed it in 1.3.3 but here is something (similar) again... hope you can help, cause this prevents the pc to enter standby atm :(

I'm not sure why you thought this was fixed in 1.3.3, because FTR never puts the machine into standby anyway, it leaves this up to Windows. It could potentially keep the machine awake when it shouldn't but I doubt this is what's going on. Try to use MCE standby tool to see what process(es) prevent your machine from going to sleep...

there was an issue with (deleting old guide data) you wanted to fix and i thought this was in 1.3.3... anyway the new issue seemed to me to be something similar (+ emailproblem?) but you are the experts, not me...

and why do you think another process may prevent the machine from entering standby? i think it is 4tr which does this because it runs the above quoted "thing" every 30 seconds... the logs i posted in the previous post are full with this...
