Hi!
That was a really fast answer;)
my old recordings are not important.
I'd like a link on the mytvhomeserver.xml to go automatically on the records of 4tr- but i didn't manage it,
I think its because the ID of the xml files are equal.
If I delete the Mytvrecordings.xml and rename the xml file of 4tr I get the new screen but no recordings of 4tr. Just many overlapped symbols and Names of TV shows.
any idea?

mytvhomeserver.xml is no longer used, this is a skin file of the original TV plugin which is replaced.

Skin files are basically only graphical layout, you will never get the functionality you want just by copying/renaming skins. All you get is a messed up MediaPortal, as you noticed ;)

lol getting enough questions m8? :)

my turn,
I am currently setting up a recording box, I will be using tvserver for it but don't want to have to use the mp gui for it, can I setup TVServer + 4TR and use 4TR on the recording box as a front end for TVS or would the control for it have to be done entirely remotely?

You can set up a server with only TV Server, the For The Record core services and the TV Server recorder/tuner on it. And perhaps also the management console.

All the rest can be installed on any machine on your network. So you can choose freely where you want to have an MP gui or not.

dvdfreak,
how many questions have you answered in only two days (mine included)?

I think you set up a new record ;)
Maybe we could set up a new poll, "dvdfreak for president" :D

Ok, just a joke. However, your support is really good and fast!

hmm yes, I know;)
I already reactivated the old TV Server Plugin.
So the mytvhomeserver.xml is used.
Then I deleted mytvguide.xml and renamed your 4tr guide and it works so far.
The next problem is TV Recordings. I would like to replace the shortcut on TV Home Screen for old mytvrecordedtv.xml (ID 603) with the new 4TR_RecordedTv.xml (ID 603). To show the records of 4tr in my old TV Screen.
In older Versions I changed the "hyperlink" to 49845. But this is not possible now.
My last question;)

Sorry mate, you are on your own ;) If you reactivate the original TV plugin I don't think the For The Record plugin will work (at all) because they are both using the same skin IDs. So if you get anything working at all that's surprising enough. But this kind of fiddling is not supported, period.

I've got 4tr all setup but I'm having a couple of problems.

Let me give a quick explanation of how I've set everything up first (I've attached some screenshots as well):
Server#1 - this is my main server with 2 DVB-T cards, TV-Server is installed here and I've installed 4tr core services, management console, recorder/tuner etc.
Server#2 - this is my HTPC in the lounge, it has an analogue tuner connected to my STB, TV-Server is installed here and I've installed the 4tr recorder/tuner for MP.
Client#1 - this is a laptop separate to the 2 servers. I've installed 4tr client plugin here and pointed it to Server#1.

    In the 4tr management console I've given Server#1's Tuner/Recorder a priority of 1 and Server#2's a priority of 2.

I've setup channels, TV guide, linked the channels to the TV-Server channels on each server, so that all appears to be fine.

    This is my problem:
    • On Client#1 I load MP and navigate to the TV guide, everything is displayed correctly
    • I choose a channel such as 'BBC One' (this is available on both servers) and TV is displayed coming from server#1 (I know this because the STB hasn't changed channels), I can happily flick between channels on server#1 and all is fine
    • I then choose a channel I know is only available from server#2 and after a short pause I get an error message saying 'recorder/tuner doesn't support this channel'. All channels from server#2 do this.
    • I then close MP and restart from the beginning, but this time I first choose a channel from server#2.
    • TV is displayed fine and I can flick between channels from server#2.
    • I then choose a channel 'BBC One' available from both servers, expecting server#1 to be used as it has the higher priority, but the channel is tuned on server#2.
So I effectively have 2 problems, the first is that sometimes it won't switch between TV-servers and the second is that it appears the tuner priority isn't working (assuming I've set this up correctly of course!)

If I use the 'Live TV' section of the management console, I can load channels up from either server and it all works correctly, I can see that the URL is either 'rtsp://server#1/streamX.X' or 'rtsp://server#2/streamX.X', switching back and forth is not a problem.

Apart from my problems, so far my experience with 4tr has been extremely positive and I'm really impressed with it!

:D for all your hard work!

Everything looks fine, nice setup :D

But the behaviour you are seeing is normal I think. So your original assumption must be wrong, it's on the other server than the one you think.

One very important note: card priority for live TV is the reverse of card priority for recordings! This may explain a lot.

Given this fact For The Record will work best if all recorder/tuners have the same channels. Otherwise you can indeed get into these "locked' situations like you are experiencing here. Not much we can do about that right now, very very tricky to tweak this since a lot is involved (conflict management, priorities, etc...).
