Other people's logs tell nothing about your setup and in 95% of the cases same problem is not the same problem even if it seems so to end user. There is a proper, valid reason that DEBUG LOGS MUST BE POSTED EVERY TIME.

FWIW, I turned off all the automated background stuff in Moving Pictures (auto scan for new files, new info etc etc) which I didn't need anyway, and it's been 100% stable since then. At the same time I changed the server id in the gentle.config to the IP address instead of the name, so it's possible that could have fixed it on its own without turning off the auto stuff.

I haven't really got time to test it at the moment to narrow it down any further, but I'm pretty sure it's something to do with Moving Pictures (first thing I did was disabled it completely and the hanging stopped). It's either the automated stuff in Moving Pictures or it doesn't like using the server name rather than the IP address (or both). That's the best I can do at the moment but if it helps somebody narrow it down then cool.

In your Application eventlog i see:

    Microsoft answer:

“Wdmaud.drv” is a WDM Audio driver mapper from Microsoft Corporation belonging to Microsoft Windows Operating System.

This seems to happen if the audio drivers are corrupt on your computer. I would suggest you to download the latest audio drivers from the manufacturer’s website on to your computer and install it and check if it helps.

Also a long list of (daily) DCOM errors:

Ok I will try to update the audio drivers. Since I only have the HDMI-Audio device from the NVIDIA VGA. No other devices are active on my system.

For the DCOM error. As far as I see theese are normal problems for a Win 8.1 installation. I was already trying to get rid of theese without success.

    Here a crash log file.

I think you should really check your drivers and system files. all the crashes refer to either 'ntdll.dll' or 'wdmaud.drv'.

Open a command prompt and enter this: sfc /scannow and let that run.
If that doesn't show errors, try to update all drivers installed.

Here's a link with a potential fix for you DCOM issues:

Drivers are the the newest from AMD. There is actually no newer driver.

Open a command prompt and enter this: sfc /scannow and let that run.
If that doesn't show errors, try to update all drivers installed.
    Done. No Problem detected.

As I already mentioned before theese are actually normal problems which are occuring under a fresh and clean Windows 8.1 install. And are related to Skydrive.

Since in Version 1.4 of MediaPortal everything was running fine. I still think it has something to do with v1.5.

Then i would suggest to reinstall MP and see if that fixes your problems. I had a weird problem last night that MP all of a sudden wouldn't start and a re-install fixed it.
