What i really want is to not have to reboot MP every time i want to record something. I wish the 'stop record' button worked. I wish launching a video worked every time without requiring a restart. Basically i would like to not have to restart MP 2-3 times per day for only a couple of hours of actual use. I really really really wish the development focus would be be on stabilization of the current version instead of themes and extensions.

I guess you shouldnt blame this on MediaPortal or the developers, but instead check your hardware, drivers and system. For me MediaPortal is running stable for years now. I never had such problems you described...

Looking at your post history you haven't done a single proper bug report about these issue so how do you think the Team should fix those? I hate to say this but everything is working 100% fine here. Also you seem to forget that MP is free, open-source software which we work on our limited, spare time.

    Now back ON topic. ;)

I'm not familiar with MP very much. What actually goes in to the installing of an extension? Does it make registry entries? Is it a stand-alone app? Why would it need UAC rights in the first place?
UAC right are required when installing a plugin due to it's storage path. That is also talked about in the wiki section about the in GUI Extension Plugin/Installation Windows Service.

    Hi everyone,
i guess i can develop an standalone extension manager like this. Can anyone tell me who made the current manager, so i can ask a few questions before i start with the work?
Sounds great! That person would be me. ;)

I have a few other tasks to finish up and planed to give this topic here a few days to see who would be interested to help.

I will get back to the volunteers during the next few days. And watch the News section. We have big news incoming! :D

    Hi Chris,
this is really a good idea to get manage all of the plugins!
But, what about MP2? It is worth to do all the hard work for MP1? Maybe if the MPEM would be planned only for MP2, the whole MP2 project would speed up...
I remember 2 years ago you said that the important thing is to make MP 1.1.0 stable as possible and then concentrate all manpower on MP2.

In my opinion MP1 is already stable as hell!:)
Maybe abandonment support for MP1 would be a tad raw, but limit the implementation of some new features only for MP2 were very fair and justified.
Currently we are going to MP1.3, and in the roadmap i see that MP1.4 is planned...
I know, you can't force devs to switch to MP2 (especially the plugins devs), but i belive if such MPEM would be planned only for MP2 it would be a attraction for devs to jump into MP2.
