I already made some deeper tests by extractiong the initialization routine
of the plugin to a small test program.
I don't know what you wanna proove here. The code is correct, it's only happening for PVR-150!!! If you would know how the Hauppauge stuff works, you'd realize how it's dealing with windows messages. So I'd suggest you stop reversing the code and tell us something about versions and revisions instead.

I don't want to prove anything but as you already told us you don't have a
pvr-150 to test.
all I tried was to reconstruct the behaviour in a smaller environment.

If there is really a bug in the DRIVER (and not your plugin) of the
remote it would be great to have a description to find a workaround!

Indeed, yes. But you didn't post your software/hardware revisions of your Hauppauge stuff yet...

And for your information: There is no official documentation from Hauppauge, only some internal docs from other devs, who were so kind and shared it with me. And the WM_TIMER event is raised all the time. If it is sending "IR_NOKEY", no button is being pressed. And that's the problem, the PVR-150 seems to send "IR_NOKEY" all the time, no matter if a button was pressed or not. This does not apply to any other Hauppauge card, so I really do think that it's some PVR-150 driver stuff. But as long as nobody will check older drivers, we can't be sure if that might be a workaround solution. Again: software version-/hardware revision-numbers might be useful in this case...

pvr150 bug

I think i maybe have a few thoughts on this:

In the begining of february i had a problem with the ir driver, were "failed to initialize infrared" etc... error message appeared, and a reboot was nececarry to regain controll. The ir would stop working after a few minutes of use. A new driver, dated 04.02.2005 cleared up the problem.

These topics are about the problem:

http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/board/showthread.php?t=1761&page=1&pp=10

http://www.shspvr.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6703&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

To sum it up, I think hauppauge changed the function which mpod mentioned in his post with the "IR_NOKEY" frase. I think this is a hauppauge work around or something.
I konow nothing about programming, but I think this command keeps the remote in focus.

Anyway: My sugestion to other pvr150 users:

For those who do NOT have an nforce based motherboard: use drivers dated before 04.02.2005.

*(hauppauge’s system of driver naming is rather weird, so im mentioning the date as stated in the device properties)

If It works, post it, and perhaps mpod cand find a “work around” for the “work around”…. :?

The "D" versions are not made for working, they are made for Debugging, as states several times!

I have just started MP and then closed it. Any button was pressed. If fact, the remote was in another room.

Hope this helps.
