Hi,

I have installed the Hauppauge IR software along with IRSS. Now here is where I fall down, I can't find the IR codes/setup (within the Hauppauge application) for the box anywhere and so I presume I am one of the few doing this with a Cisco Virgin Media box. Is there a way I can figure it out how it should be setup? I notice that you can 'learn' commands with the Hauppauge app although it wouldn't recognise input from my Virgin remote at all it seems. I don't know if I need IRSS but I have configured it to receive Hauppauge input although there is no transmit check box.

As for the virgin mediabox, it would probably be more helpful if you checked the model number of the box.
Apparently it could possibly be an HD4585 cisco box. (Open Source - Support - Consumer - Cisco) for possible models.

I would sugest you try the SA 3250 or something close, as I know that my provider also use those boxes. Haven't have time to check for the remote compatibility. I will ask a coworker to check it out today if he has the 4585.

Let me know what you find.

About the rest, what mm said .. :p

deskwizard & mm, thank you very much, some top help there!

My box is a 4585 so will have a read of what's been said on TGB. I also had the IR blaster in the wrong place - doh!

Okay, so I went into BlastCfg and looked for a SA 3250 under cable box in Europe and there was nothing. There was SA listed but nothing happened with those codes. If I look under North America/Cable I can see an SA 3250 but this doesnt appear to do anything either. If I select the SA entry in BlastCfg under North America/Cable and test those hen nothing happens, but if from here I choose Test All then the box powers off on the code 0132 or 132 I think. So I tried selecting those and then saving the settings but no luck.

I have however managed to add a channel and make MP blast IR commands - manually added channel. So I will be able to do the rest of what I need once I can get the correct code.

MM,
is there a way to save recorded ir codes ?

my idea: use my harmony configured for his stb and record the codes, then send them to him.

I'm not familiar enough to know but maybe you do!

**just noticed the blastbfg thing... doability will maybe also depend on time ... as I use a mce blaster usually..**

PsyVision,
My idea about the harmony remote was more about myself recording the codes for you since your code recording doesnt seem to work.

Since you have the original remote, the harmony wont help.

btw, did you try the recording again since you got the rest working?

No, I haven't managed to get the IR receiver working. I have previously used my remote with MP via a Cyberlink receiver however I would rather use the all in one Hauppauge one if possible. I'll work on that next.

Am I able to make use of these in some way? DVBLogic • View topic - IR Packages collection

I see someone on there has posted for a Cisco 4585 and, these are media center codes?

I have DVBLogic 3 so could potentially upgrade to 4 and then use this combined with MP. I am partly interested in doing this for the ability to watch TV over the web, I would like to get MP working standalone first though if possible.

I cannot seem to figure out how to get HDMI support for my Colossus. I've tried reading through this thread and I'm not sure if the support is available or if it's pending. I see there's a patch from Klairic but I don't know what to do with it or whether or not it's been incorporated in the software downloads.

I just installed a fresh new version of MP1.2.1 and I copied the two DLLs from the Schedules Direct plugin (although I'm not sure that had anything to do with it). I also tried copying that .patch from Klairic as well as the WMC plugin files into my TV Server/plugins directory.

When I start the TV Server Configuration, all I see is "2 Analog Hauppauge Colossus Crossbar 0" under the TV Servers list. Shouldn't I see a DvbT type or some other digital device? I don't see anything listed on the "Hybrid cards" tab. And I don't seem to have any channels at all (all I care about is the HDMI input).

I have successfully recorded using WinTV and ArcSoft ShowBiz. Could those application be interfering? Do they have some services I may need to stop (I tried stopping the Hauppauge TV Server).

I'm totally new to MediaPortal and I'm also totally lost so any help would be appreciated.

TazmanianD,

For the HDMI input, if you add the s-video channels, one of them will be the HDMI input.

Once you confirm you have HDMI working, you have to configure your channels to use HDMI as input.

Hope this help.

    Hi and welcome TazmanianD :)

I cannot seem to figure out how to get HDMI support for my Colossus. I've tried reading through this thread and I'm not sure if the support is available or if it's pending. I see there's a patch from Klairic but I don't know what to do with it or whether or not it's been incorporated in the software downloads.
Let me try and clear up the confusion. Support for the Colossus was added for MP 1.2.0. We originally didn't have HDMI support, then Klairic supplied his patch which was integrated into the final version of MP 1.2.0. It is also already included in MP 1.2.1.

I just installed a fresh new version of MP1.2.1 and I copied the two DLLs from the Schedules Direct plugin (although I'm not sure that had anything to do with it).
    Good, that is okay. :)

I also tried copying that .patch from Klairic as well as the WMC plugin files into my TV Server/plugins directory.
You didn't need either of those. Totally safe to delete them from the plugins subdirectory.

When I start the TV Server Configuration, all I see is "2 Analog Hauppauge Colossus Crossbar 0" under the TV Servers list.
    That is normal.

Shouldn't I see a DvbT type or some other digital device?
    No.

I don't see anything listed on the "Hybrid cards" tab.
Hybrid cards are configured manually. You can ignore that configuration.

And I don't seem to have any channels at all (all I care about is the HDMI input).
You will need to use the Schedules Direct plugin to create these.

Here is the start of a bare-bones-basic setup guide (I think I'm going to copy this to the first post at some point).

    1. Set up your account on their website (Schedules Direct).
    2. Create a lineup (again, on their website).
    3. Download and install the TV Server plugin from here. I think you've already done this.
    4. Open TV Server configuration.
    5. Go to the plugin section.
    6. Tick the SD plugin.
    7. Expand the plugin node on the left.
    8. Select the SD plugin.
    9. Enter your account details from step 1.
    10. Set up the plugin with the following options:
    - "Automatically add new digital cable/satellite channels" (in the "Digital Cable/Satellite Channel Management" section) - enable
    - "Country Selection for new channels" - use United States of America
    - "External Video Input for new channels" - use HDMI #1 for the HDMI input on the Colossus
    - "Include analog channels" - enable if you receive analog cable channels
    - "Force guide update on next TvService startup" - enable to import guide data on TV Server restart
    11. Go to the manual control section of TV Server configuration and click "stop service"... then "start service".
    12. Expand the TV channels section and select the mapping section.
    13. Select the Colossus in the field at the top, then select all the channels on the left (use shift with arrow keys to select multiple channels) and click the ">>" button.
    14. Go to the "TV Channels" section and organise your channels into groups as described in our wiki -->here<--.
    15. For best reliability I'd recommend that you manually set the audio source on each Colossus channel as follows:
    - select a channel and click edit
    - select the tuning detail row and click edit
    - select the appropriate audio source (details are in the first post)
    - click OK and OK again
    - repeat for each channel

Now you're at the point where you need to configure MediaPortal.
    1. Open MediaPortal configuration.
    2. Go the "codecs and renderer" section.
    3. Select the "TV" tab.
    4. Assuming that you're using Windows 7, select the Microsoft DTV-DVD Decoder codec for MPEG 2 and h.264 video. You will need to install an AC3/DD capable filter such as AC3Filter if you don't already have one installed (the Microsoft codec won't work - not licensed to work outside of WMC). If you're not using W7 then you could also try the LAV codecs which are available as a package in the MediaPortal Extensions Installer. In fact, I would highly recommend them even if you are using W7.
    5. Go to the "TV" section.
    6. Most people from USA and Canada will prefer to untick "select channel by index (non-US)" - the description of what that setting means is in the wiki -->here<--.
    7. Go to the "TV Client" subsection and enter the hostname or IP address of your TV Server. Do *not* use localhost. A static IP address is recommended.
    8. Click OK.

At this point you should be able to open MediaPortal, go to the TV section, go to the TV guide and see all your channels with guide information. You should also be able to select any of the channels and start viewing TV. Note that the wrong channel will be shown since you haven't set up a blaster. That is the part that I'm not really able to give good or detailed instructions for. The best tutorial for that is -->here<-- but I'm told it is a little out of date. The basics are to:

    1. Download and install IRSS from -->here<--.
    2. For MP 1.2.1 you'll need to also apply the patch from -->here<--.
    3. Follow the guide linked above to configure the TVE3 Blaster plugin.

I have successfully recorded using WinTV and ArcSoft ShowBiz. Could those application be interfering? Do they have some services I may need to stop (I tried stopping the Hauppauge TV Server).
They could interfere, but in this case I think that you haven't got to a point where they would cause a problem.

    mm

[Edit: I have the suspicion that you're based in Australia. In that case the SD plugin may not give you the guide info that you want (it is targetted at the US and Canada). In that case you will have to create the channels manually as described in the first few steps of the set top box blasting guide.]
