I went into Device Manager, opened 'human interface devices'. The Ehome is listed as 'Microsoft eHome Infrared Transceiver'. I right-clicked it and chose properties. Clicked the Details tab, and the 'Device Instance ID' is:
IRBUS\VID_1784&PID_0001\6&1B8E2508&0&0001
Under 'Hardware IDs' is has:
IRBUS\Vid_1784&Pid_0001&Rev_0000
IRBUS\Vid_1784&Pid_0001
IrBus\IrDevice
IrBus\HID_DEVICE

Under 'Matching Device ID', it has:
irbus\vid_1784&pid_0001

I don't see any other options that have a similar format (vid_...pid_...). I also do not see anything with 'USB' before the '\'.

Replying to myself...
In Device Manager, in 'human interface devices', is a "USB Human Interface Device" that has:
Device Instance ID
USB\VID_413C&PID_3010\5&35186B6D&0&4
Hardware ID
USB\Vid_413c&Pid_3010&Rev_0220
USB\Vid_413c&Pid_3010

Compatable ID
USB\Class_03&SubClass_01&Prot_02
USB\Class_03&SubClass_01
USB\Class_03

Matchign Device ID
usb\class_03&subclass_01

    Hi,
If you select device by connetion it would look like this:

    device_by_connection.jpg

I think the first one you have it's correct anyway (Matching Device ID') & this it's not in the source list, maybe thats why it fails.

Note that there is a 'Microsoft eHome Infrared Transceiver' under human interface devices and a 'eHome Infrared Receiver' under, I think, Universal Serial Bus controllers. I'm not entirely sure about where that last item is (as I'm behind my work computer right now), but I am absolutely sure that both are there on my media center PC (as can also be seen in the screenshot in ronilse's last post).

Please post 2 logs (mediaportal.log/ debug level) of a MediaPortal-session: Simple open/close of MP with

    a) receiver NOT plugged into the PC
    b) receiver plugged in

Post these 2 logs, after that we can go on. ;)

Don't bother about my above comment, I made the ID list configurable for XP now (Vista doesn't need this atm - unless someone reports to me *g*).

Your ID has been added already, just give it a try.

The next public SVN build after this post will include this change.

Whoever might be interested: The file is "eHome Infrared Transceiver List XP.xml" in MP's root, mind the "&" notation for a simple "&". (XML notation)

I'm experiencing the same problems. Is this problem now identified and solved (ID list?) and will updating to the next svn-build solve my remote problems?

That's what I want to know from you. As said, the NEXT SVN build will contain these changes.
