Only if Hauppauge gave ther permission to the Dev's to use this Device, configured to work with MP, which they need the sdk from hauppauge to do.

Why one of the best manufacturers are doing this with MP and possibly others is stupid, especially with the amount of recommendations for their HW here on the website\forum.

Or is it some legal limitation that may be stopping them from giving access to this cam.

i guess it´s time to return this thing again, since i can´t even get it to work with their own (crappy) wintv software.

any recommendations for another dvb-s card with cam support(preferably not from hauppauge) - i´m all ears :)

    -10 points to Hauppauge!

What a strange behavior from a serious hardware manufacturer. I was considering an option with this and DVB-T or DVB-S... not anymore!

    Hi,

I read in the SVN directory that dman_lfc has changed "now includes WinTV CI support".

Would it be possible to give some more information on this?
    E.g.:
    - Has Hauppauge now permitted this? For what reason now?
    - Is the WinTV CI working only with Hauppauge TV cards or with all TV cards?
    - Has the WinTV BDA driver been tested with TVE3? Is it working reliably especially after hibernate?

Every answer is highly appreciated because it seems that with the latest TT driver 5.0.0.6 my S2-3200 is working quite well except the CI. So I would like to replace the TT CI with the Hauppauge WinTV CI if this would work okay.

    Thanks,

    Andy

if you want to know if and how well it works, then you will have to test it out.
afaik. noone of the team owns that device.

the only suggestion i can make is, if you want pay tv, get a floppy/firedtv-CI from digital everywhere.
i can recommend these out of first hand usage.

no clue about all the other low end (quality) products. i am still scared  when i remember what i went throught with my twinhan and the TT befor i bought my floppydtv's.

Okay, we're writing three months later now and after being up and down through the net, I was wondering if there is any update on HP's standpoint of not sharing the (proper) SDK for the WinTV-CI USB module?

I have bought the thing and it works perfectly fine with their WinTV 6 application. Unfortunately this app is such crappy written software (sure hope they never paid anyone to have it written; it's even worse than the any Open Source app. written by stoned monkeys after three bottles o'rum, having their tails clipped, arms broken and brains surgically removed begging for PayPal donations prior to offering downloads) that it borders non-usability for any not so tech savvy human being (e.g. my wife).

Having said that, it doesn't work with MCE 2005 either for encrypted channels, so I reckon HP is becomming a bit overly protective of her "child"; WinTV6. Bit of a mistake imho as per my above statement.

So, to elaborate a bit more on this bump (and stop complaining about HP's stance in this):
Any news as to wether this USB module could possibly be supported in MP (which I really, really love!!!) now or the foreseeable future? And, if not, is there a possible workaround to be able to use it still (like trying an MP driver for another type of USB CI module or similar)? Because, you have to admit, an USB CI module is the only real solution for us laptoppies out here (I for one never managed to get a PCI card into my Thinkpad ;) ) and it does work as their WinTV 6 app proves...

Just a sudden thought while writing this: would it be possible to substitute MP's builtin TV renderer with HP's WinTV6 renderer? That could circumvent the CI problem, wouldn't it?

    Thanks for any feedback!!

    Cheers,
    -Jigs
