Gemx, I've been playing with your EPG grabber here in Australia and been having promising, but mixed, results. I've found that a number of my pay tv channels (selectv) via DVB-S don't get updated and/or have gaps at the start.. if I wait a few days things seem to improve but not completely.

If I run FireDTV viewer.. the EPG instantly pops up for every channel (well every channel I subscribe to). However the same doesn't happen for MP. I've studied the logs for days and worked out that your 'gap analysis' doesn't seem to check the start time of the first EPG entry for each channel.. it just records if there's gaps in the middle.. I often get an EPG for a channel that starts 12 hours later.. If I manually go into the db and set 'has gaps' to 1 the EPG gets filled next time around.

In a nutshell.. I think my provider sends EPG entries in blocks maybe say 1/3 then 2/3 and 3/3 if you capture the wrong block you set has gaps to 0 as it's a contiguous block.. thus I never get the other updates.

Would you mind setting a debug parameter to allow me to leave the 'had gaps' constantly set to see if this solves my problem?

    Thanks in advance

    gemx,

did you have any chance to identify the EPG card lock ?
I have grab EPG while in idle checked and when I try to tune a channel I have the "unable to start timeshift. Channel is scrambled" message. This is the relevant part of the log:

you can see that the EPG grabber is not releasing the card for timeshifting to start.

If you want me to test something specific, please feel free to ask for...

    gemx,

I upgraded to 17439 SVN and now idle EPG grabber seems fixed.

The issue I still have and that was previously reported in this post, is now in the correct thread

Gemx, Could I trouble you for a comment on my post above.. I'm happy to post logs but they just show the grabber running and doing 0 inserts (as there's no gaps).

    stoked

My PPV on initial idle grab gets specific details, but eventually it always ends up showing generic info for all PPV channels. Previous to build 17439, I was able to click the Refresh EPG in TVserver config to refresh everything, however with 17439 it doesn't refresh at all. Is there a reason why my EPG data for PPV seems to eventually show the same generic info for all PPV channels?

I added a new setting to the epg tab in SetupTV "Always try to fill holes".
It's available in next snapshot ;)

    Hi gemx.

I tested the latest version yesterday. It seems to work pretty well. Good job. Also the new option to update existing entries seem to work well and does not cause any performance issues on my system.

    Thanks a lot for this.

    Hi again Gemx.

After some more testing I did find an error.
I have both new features enabled, so I can't say with of them is causing it... my guess goes in direction of the update feature.

I switched to the channel "Phoenix" at 14:18.
The epg info that was collected some days ago was shown (14:00 - 14:45). It seems that there was a program change and because of this the current show was something else.
The timeshift epg grabber gets the updated information, the new show was from 14:15 - 14:45.

The problem was is that the entry of the old show was not delete, but new one was insert. In result this leads to a wrong display of the epg informations in the guide & miniepg.

In the guide the new show is just a thin line behind the old one. In the mini-epg it shows the old show as current and the new show as next.
