[HELP US] Getting those DVB EPG issues fixed (1 Viewer)

I've had some freezing/locking up of the picture. I was watching TV for about 1.5 hours, then it froze. Restarted MP, freeze again within a few minutes. Did this several times, finally I rebooted. Lasted a while then it froze again.

Get a failure to create file at 9:55, but TV plays fine.

Until almost 1.5 hours, when at 11:22 same error, at this point the failed to reopen file message is in my log many times, Video is frozen, and I need to restart.

when I restart MP, I get the same sequence of log entries and the freezing video after a few minutes of video. Rebooting helped, but I'm still not getting reliable video.

Forgot to mention I had the idle EPG on.

Turns out my .net was out of date and needed a service pack applied. After doing this, the above error went away.

Turns out I still have the problem. Just takes longer since I went back to using the default timeshift settings. I'll open a new thread on it since I don't think it has anything to do with EPG.

Just to clarify things, can you record and watch 2 seperate channels (or record) that are not on the same mux.

ie if you have a recording going and enable the mini epg, are there different coloured words for various channels, that will tell you if a free card is available.

Sure I can watch and record at same time.
This is my setup:

Prio 5 FireDTV-S/Aston Dual max. 2 channels on same transponder
Prio 4 FireDTV-C/Alphacrypt max. 12 channels on same transponder
Prio 3 Hauppauge MCE-150 1 channel - analogue
Prio 2 Hauppauge MCE-150 1 channel - analogue
Prio 1 RadioWebstream I Don't use!

On the first 4 cards I have combined a lot of channels.
For Example: RTL 4 exists on all 4 cards and they are combined together.
I feel lucky FireDTV-C always does the idle grabbing, maybe becouse it's cardid(card #1) is lower as firedtv-s (cardid #6)

But if Firedtv-s is recording a program, firedtv-c is idle grabbing, offcourse I get available in my mini epg, I have 2 analogues as backup. But when selecting such a channel I have combined at 4 cards, firedtv-c is skipped becouse it's grabbing and analogue is used.

I hope this claryfies some things.

Yep.

I got the same thing again.
The primary card starts grabbing (idle) epg on the channel "Comedy central" and never returns back...
Every recording/timeshifting request is handled by the secondary card...
No further log entry from the frist card during this time... most likely because the tv service is the meaning the epg grabbing is already stopped... see the logs...

This happens directly after the service has been started... so maybe it is a timing issue!? Maybe the idle epg grabber should give the service a bit more time after it has started before beginning the grabbing process?

Edit: The bad thing is that because of the reason that the tv service does not know that the card is still in the epg grabbing mode... there is also no timeout that may free it up... Only options seems the restart of the service.

TvServer now tries to fill gaps in the epg.

The next step is to rework the card locking mechanism

1 Small issue, not of very much importance. Can in TV Server Management Console, the column "Grab EPG for channels" made more wide, and the "Filter for these languages:" column made smaller. This way people don't have to scroll everytime to see what cards are attached to their channels and in the right column the extra space is just waste.

If every issue was this small... LOL.. ;-)

TVE3 did grab EPG when it was recording and only the idle grabbing from the settings is enabled. Service was started and one recording was already missed -> service started recording directly after it was started. Maybe this had something to do with it.

EPG grabbing works good for now. but if you have the idle epg grabber enabled tvservice is crashing after about an hour.
