Maybe if I explain everything I did once I installed Vista... Maybe something I did here stuffed it up...

After I installed Vista, I:
- Installed MB, Video Card and Netgear Drivers
- Rebooted
- Installed Windows Updates
- Rebooted
- Installed Haupaugge HVR2200 Driver
- Rebooted
- Installed programs; ESET Smart Security, ffdshow, EVEREST, Firefox, VLC, WinRAR and uTorrent
- Rebooted
- Installed MediaPortal with MSSQL (second fresh installation MySQL)
- Added folders to 'My Videos'
- Scanned for 1 DVBT
2 DVBT
1 Analog
2 Analog
- Setup EPG settings
- Viewed MyTV (worked perfectly)
- Connected using Remote Desktop connection
- Did not do anything. D/C'ed remote session
- Rebooted
- Launched MP and got the error message "Connection to TV Service lost"

Further System information:
- Windows Vista Ultimate SP1
- Neweset ASUS and Haupaugge drivers downloaded and installed from their respective websites.

As I stated before... I no longer think it is an issue regarding permissions. If a developer could take a look at my logs it would be greatly appreciated. I really do not want to resort to Windows Media Centre and would really like to get this working.

EDIT - Manually deleted logs in the directory. Re-opend MP. Error. Closed. Here are the logs.

The install of "ESET Smart Security" is a bad idea, as I said in an earlier post....TV-Server does not work well with Antivirus and Firewall software... But I see you installed "uTorrent" so you obviously need an antivirus to stop all the nasties that you download :D :D

Tell me, have you tried to close MediaPortal, then to stop and start the TV-Service, and then restarting MediaPortal?

MyTV has worked properly with ESET on/off and uninstalled, therefore leading me to believe that ESET is fine.

In the Tv-Server Config settings I clicked on "Stop TV Service" and then waited a few moments and clicked "Start TV Service".

First can I ask what the netgear drivers are for, if wireless, then definately install the MS loopback device, make sure under windows service you change tvservice properties under the recovery tab, mines 1\2nd failure "restart service2, 3rd is "restart computer".

Now yours logs are just full of no signal errors

    ***** SIGNAL LEVEL: 0, SIGNAL QUALITY: 25 *****

If you use the hauppauge software, does it run without any problems or mce itself as your on vista.

I can see you trying to change channels, but the above error shows on each channel change, so i recommend checking Aerial\cabling.

The Netgear drivers are for my WLAN but I was having a read of the loopback before and I got the impression that by enabling it I would lose all wireless capabilities. No internet and no downloads obviously. Is this the case or does it just stop MP from doing stuff around the network?

I have not installed the Hauppaugge software, just the drivers. Windows Media Centre works fine.
I will have another look at the cabling but as I said.. Windows Media Centre works fine as well as the 'Preview' in the Tv-Server settings.

The cabling is all fine, just checked then.

EDIT - I will have to try tomorrow for the loopback as I won't have access until then. I will post back with my results.

Just trying to do the Loopback device now and have installed it correctly.

But your post says I need "SQL Server management studio express " Is that installed when I install MP in a one click installation?

Where do I go on MSSQL so I can follow the rest of your post?

    ___________________________________________

    What I have done:

    - Installed MS Loopback Adapter
    - Configures a static IP for 192.168.3.1 and subnet of 255.255.255.0
    - In TV Server Configuration I changed the streaming IP to 192.168.3.1

Now according to your guide I have to changes something in MSSQL but I do not know where I have to go to do that.

EDIT - Also in Device Manager -> Network Adapters -> MS Loopback --> Properties -> Network Address... What do I set the value to?

EDIT 2 - Do I have to install Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express so I can get it to work properly. Merely changing the streaming IP in TV Server settings will do the job that editing the table in SMSE does.

If you can select the ip in tvserver config and it sticks, then all is fine, it will have changed the database setting from the name of your pc to the specified ip address.

Ok I will try and do that first before I install SMSE.

    Just a few other questions:

In Device Manager -> Network Adapters -> MS Loopback --> Properties -> Network Address... What do I set the value to? Or Blank?

When setting up the Loopback device and choosing the IP do I need to fill in everything or just the IP field and subnet field?

    Put the 192.168.3.1

ip and subnet, that should be sufficient.
