Looks like there is a slick built in feature to compress dvr-ms files to wmv. Can .ts be compressed with the same feature?

I use the TV Server's comskip plugin to execute a 'compress.cmd' file that contains the following statements:

    QUOTE

    @echo off
    E:
    CD \Recordings

echo compress.cmd invoked on %1 recorded from channel %2 >>compress.log

Rem %1 is the fully qualified name of the recorded mpeg file.
Rem %2 is the channel number of the recording

if %2 == "TCM" GOTO noads
if %2 == "Movie One" GOTO noads
if %2 == "Movie Two" GOTO noads
if %2 == "Movie Extra" GOTO noads
if %2 == "Movie Greats" GOTO noads

Rem run comskip to remove the ads
    "C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\Comskip\comskip.exe" %1

    :noads

Rem re-encode the show into DivX format
    "C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MEncoder\mencoder.exe" -profile Xvid-Good -o "%~d1%~p1%~n1.avi" -edl "%~d1%~p1%~n1.edl" "%~d1%~p1%~n1.ts"

Rem Delete temporary files created by comskip/showanalyzer
    del "%~d1%~p1%~n1.edl"
    del "%~d1%~p1%~n1.txt"

You can edit this to suite; but the main piece you'll want is the mencoder statement to compress the .ts file into an xvid encoded .avi file. You'll (obviously) need mencoder which is part of the mplayer package found on the net.

    Cheers

Thanks Ross, will check out at next opportunity! btw - tried DVBPortal's TSConverter, and yes it converted it to a dvr-ms file very quickly (~5 minutes for an hour of HD content at 720P) but was still unable to ff/rew in MCE, so really nothing gained at all... a gig or two less in the file size, but I don't really care about that - files will typically be deleted after the program has been watched anyway.

I have recently installed MediaPortal 1.37 (x64) and MP-TVSeries v4.5.1.697 and unfortunately the TV episode runtime duration is missing in my Titan skin. This only applies to my .TS files, my .MKV files are OK. I believe the difference is likely to be because .MKV files embed the runtime in the file unlike .TS files. I have done...

Thank you for pointing out that my analysis may be less than accurate. :p Although the change to TV channel 71 may not also have been applied to the independent radio channels (different MUXes), the logs that I prepared for one of the development team does show a difference between channel 704 ("BBC Radio 4") and channel 731...

I'm running 2.5 with the WMC skin. I have .mp4 files, along with the related .srt files in the same folder. I can watch the movies just fine. In past versions of MP, like 2.4x, I could press the More Info button on my remote twice, and on the second press, an option for showing/choosing the subtitles was listed. I'd select the...

Hi This is a general question about OnX. I have been using the TvWishList plugin for a while and have recently updated (update install) from MP 1.36 x86 to 1.37 x86 and found there seemed to be no Onx menu in the TV guide. I then configured the onx.presets.xml file like I would normally do with updates or fresh installs, but still...

This is for the tvserver, the iptv part. It used to only support m3u files containing all the channels, but now you can use a m3u8 too. Usually you get an m3u8 from your iptv provider, but there are also some that can be found on the internet
