Guys, I still haven't seen anything in this thread that resembles a "how to set up comskip". I have comskip installed; I enabled it. But 1) what keys do I map, and how, and 2) how come when I close MP I find 20 cmd windows that didn't close when comskip ran, and 20 comskip processes listed in Task Manager.

Can we get a half page guide "how to set up comskip in TV2" and "how to set up comskip in TV3"?

Many thanks-
Milhouse

Good idea,

Eventually, it would be nice of the MP team eventually made comskip to work like that found in mythtv - an on of off function that does everything automatically. I haven't had much success getting it to run, so I just tend to FF now. A guide would be great.

I agree with u guys comskip is amazing on sagetv but Ive decided to stick with mediaportal because its a far more stable application which runs much faster. I was unable to get comskip to work either and cannot find a guide anywhere..itd be great if someone could write it up.

Hi everyone I have mediaportal running fine with the latest version but cannot figure how to get comskip launcher to work..I have it pointed to the comskip.exe file but it does not do anything..when I watch the recorded files it does not skip the commercial..someone plz help me.

Are you looking for automatic commercial skip? It won't do that. You'll have to map a NEXT CHAPTER and PREVIOUS CHAPTER button in the fullscreen video section.

Seems I already posted the buttons to map.
If you guys need more info on the Media Portal side of Comskip, I would be happy to help. I use the default .ini file and don't have much experience with that portion.

Mp will launch the comskip program after a recording. I am not sure how long it takes to run, I usually watch the show next day. You won't see the comskip process run, it is "behind" MP and creates a text file with all of the commercial times. MP uses the text file to allow you to jump past the commercials.

Have you tried the "test file" section when you enable the plugin?

I have to buttons on my remote mapped to NEXT CHAPTER and PREVIOUS CHAPTER in the full screen video section of the key mapper.

MP will not automatically skip the commercials (like mythtv) you have to press the chapter keys mapped above to jump past the commercials.
I use the default comskip ini file and it works well for me in the USA (comcast 84056 lineup). I do have some sneaky channels that display channel logos on some of their commercials for their own shows.

Come to think of it, I haven't seen an advertisement in a long time.

I think I am using the default INI file also, but I should have a look into it as some particular programs will skip past the end rather than to the end of the group of commercials.

I also use a remote, just map the buttons as needed (NEXT CHAPTER and PREVIOUS CHAPTER as mentioned in other posts)

Edit:
I just had a look at my INI file and I am now fairly sure comskip was working very well it looks like I found yet another mediaportal bug (I'm' not currently running the latest version so it possible that its fixed)

    mrkaras:

Can you look into the suspected bug and provide logs and .txt files to back it up if it's true please?

If you can get me some evidence of a bug I'll try to fix it as soon as possible ...

    Cheers,
