I'm using a 16:9 display also, and 4:3 & 16:9 material display with correct aspect ratio all the time. I use no aspect management plugins, just default MP install.

I have seen inconsistant aspect ratio handling in the past, if using the MPC video decoder. Using Vista, or Win7 with their included MPEG decoders, has always worked fine.

If see you're using WinXP, so I would recommend a different decoder, if you haven't tried one already.

you are right, Marvman gave me a hint. Yes I have XP. No I m using the Cyberlink codecs for MPEG2 and H.264. At the moment it works but not 100%. Sometimes I have the frog faces again when switching from an 16:9 channel to a channel with 4:3 ratio. Maybe when I remove the IFC it will work fine, I ll test it, thanks ...

Results: Great - it works fine, I think I let IFC disabled.
Conclusion: My problem was a wrong codec and/or Windows XP, so much wasted time for that ...
